Need Help!

I sold two iPad Pro's on eBay, brand new in packaging. A user purchased the first one on July 31st, and the second one was purchased on August 23rd.  It turns out that it was the same user who bought both.

I woke up at 4 AM today to the notification of a refund request for the first iPad, claiming that it wasn't working because it had my "personal information and social security number". Sleepy, I went to see how we could sort this out later and it appears that not only did I inadvertently start the refund process, but it didn't even wait for him to ship the item back. I woke up later today, and realized what had happened, so I immediately ran to the bank to switch my checking account to prevent PayPal from refunding him the money.

I am at a loss what to do, I cannot cancel the return process. I went and entered his username etc from the PayPal details, and from what I am gathering, he is reselling eBay items on Amazon or another site. Otherwise, it makes no sense how he could claim a brand new iPad did not work because it had my information on it 26 days after he received it.

What my guess is, is that he went and tried to sell it to someone on another site and something happened there between him and the buyer. It does not even let me contact him in on eBay any way shape or form except if I messaged him through the order of the second iPad asking what was going on. I've received no reply at all.

Due to these circumstances, I do not want to be forced to refund the amount to him without finding what is going on. Frankly, I do not want to refund him at all. I originally had "no refunds" on both listings. He has my 2nd iPad too(it was delivered), and eBay has it's usual 21 day hold on the payment. I fear that I will at the very least lose one of the iPads, or the amount it is worth. And at worst he'll be able to keep them both of them/the amounts and try and get my account terminated.

Re: Need Help!

I'm still trying to wrap my head around how there could be personal information on what you said were brand new tablets.

If you clicked the refund button, the buyer will be refunded, the case closed and they won't have to return the item and there isn't anything you can do.

If you accepted the return, buyer would receive a return shipping label and you wouldn't have to refund until it was returned.

Have a great day.

Re: Need Help!

That's why I think this is either a scam, or he resold it to someone on another site and they did something to do it there. He is ignoring every message I've sent him trying to figure out what's going on. It's not like I'm unwilling to cooperate.

He had had the product for nearly a month when he opened a return with the description only saying

"has not been working properly , has personal info that needs to be taken off . social security number "

Re: Need Help!

I contacted eBay who told me to contact PayPal, who told me to try and stop it from leaving my bank, which I already did.
