Need Help Understanding Why My eBay Seller Account is Blocked

A few days ago, I noticed that my seller account was suddenly blocked or suspended. The problem occured when i tried to reactivate my old Ebay seller account after 7 years. I tried to contact Ebay but I can not get in contact with them. I want to sell truck parts via Ebay but every account i try to create, gets automatically blocked by Ebay.

I haven't received any prior notifications or warnings from eBay about policy violations. Nevertheless, my account remains inaccessible, and I am unsure about the reason behind this block.

If any of you have experienced a similar situation or have knowledge about common reasons for eBay seller accounts being blocked, I would be immensely grateful for your insights.

Creating new accounts to circumvent restrictions on existing accounts is a violation of eBay policy.

Since it sounds like you have done this multiple times, eBay is no doubt detecting this and has flagged you with repeated policy violations. 

You may have already dug yourself a hole that is too deep to climb out of.

What exactly does the block say?

If the account is that old, you probably need to sign up for managed payments......have you tried that?

Sometimes we see old accounts blocked because they owe $$.........

You should be able to contact Ebay thru the Ebay for Business facebook account.....

Thanks for the response. The block just said that we violated the Ebay terms, even though we did not place an ad online. We just reactivated the account and when we tried to place an ad we got a message saying that our account has been blocked. I also think that we might own Ebay some money, but we never got the change to contact them about it. I will try to get in contact them with Facebook

I can not seem to find the Ebay for Business account on Facebook. Are there any other ways to contact them? I tried to send them a message, but all I seem to get are an automatic reply

Did you set your account up as a Selling account?  Did you submit the information they need to sign you up for Managed Payments?  

I would suggest that you contact Ebay for Business on Facebook or Twitter for the better trained CSRs.

Your options will be on the left.  If you use the link below you can only get to the Automated Assistant or Chat box type AGENT in the box and hit enter. You will then get more options.  Not all options are available 24/7.  It will depend on staffing available.  So sometimes you can request a call back and sometimes you can't.  Sometimes you have the Chat option available and other times it won't me.  If it is important to you to use one of those options, just try back later.

If you use a cell phone or other mobile device, you may need to turn off your Spam filter so that Ebay can call you.

If you are a seller outside of the US or Canada, you will need to use the Chat Option.

Oh dear, so your account is likely officially suspended. This is a pickle. Below is the link to the policy explaining what needs to happen for reinstatement. In short, the policy advises this:

”Tip
If your eBay account has been restricted or suspended because you owe eBay money, you can make a one-time payment. After we receive the payment, and if there are no other issues with your account, your eBay account will be reinstated.”

But since you have attempted several times to open a new account, eBay might have leveled additional policy violations, as @luckythewinner mentioned upthread.

Things have changed on eBay, some significantly so. Below are listed some of them:

—PayPal is no longer the payment processor. eBay has largely taken over the payment system thru Ayden.

—There is new federal legislation, signed into law, regarding 1099Ks and the reporting limits for IRS income tax purposes. All sellers must now provide their SSN, and govt. issued ID, along with a bank account.

—Domestic online sales are no longer exempt from state sales tax. (Luckily eBay collects the appropriate sales tax from buyers and remits to the correct governing body.)

—Most returning (like yourself) and new sellers will be subject to payment holds, and selling limits until a number of successful transactions occur with no policy violations.

I didn't think of this last night when I posted.  But this is actually a normal Security thing that Ebay does.  When an account is format for quite a while, they block them or if it is a selling account, they may give it such a low selling limit that you can't do a darn thing.

They do this to protect you as dormant accounts are prime targets for hackers.  This action by ebay helps to prevent account takeovers by bad actors.  

Contacting Ebay is the way to go.  It should be relatively easy to get your account active again but you will have to sign up for Managed Payments which is Ebay's money processing program.  You can't get paid without it.

Please review the below link carefully. It contains very important information as to how Ebay needs to see the information you provide them on your account. It is likely easier to change your Ebay account to match your bank account if you find there to be a difference.
