NR cases used to just 'close' (by ebay) when tracking showed delivered

When labels purchased on ebay (as of about 1 year ago) now the Not Received case just sits there stating 'resolve by July 6 even though as of yesterday July 1 (same day received) I input the tracking number (again, even though it was already filled in and stated "you cannot change/edit a tracking number that has been delivered).

Has something changed? They are not automatically 'removed' anymore? Anyone know anything new?

They used to close them automatically because they were never going to get more delivered.

Now they leave them open to "encourage the seller to work with the buyer".

And yeah, I know.

@toomuchstuffagain35  so since they don't NOW close automatically; do they 'close' on the 'date' noted once I give the 'same ol' tracking info' again? (email said July 5, case says July 6)

It used to be (don't know if this is still how it works):

If there was a delivered scan before the buyer filed the INR then the INR would hang open until buyer/seller worked it out or asked eBay to step in or it timed out due to inactivity.

If there was a delivered scan after the buyer filed the INR then the INR would auto-close once the delivered scan came in.

So ... did the delivery scan occur before or after the buyer filed the INR @stainlessenginecovers ?

@wastingtime101 I'm a bit confused about your 'was'??

Not long ago, when a INR was opened AFTER a 'deliver scan' it would 'auto close' (I had one maybe 6 months ago and this was the way it was).( I've never had an INR opened 'before' delivered, not that it matters)

Anyway, this INR was opened AFTER it was Scanned as Delivered (Deliver Jun 29, INR opened July 1).

I 're-input' the tracking number as a 'new number' because the 'old number' is already in the case, greyed out and noted 'cannot edit a delivered tracking number)...so I just 'added' a new one, but used same number.

Will this close by July 6th in my favor? I have no plans on doing anything else.

Usually 21 days after it was opened if tracking shows delivery or attempted delivery.

The buyer won't be able to escalate it.

It's been several years since I've had an INR auto-close when it was filed after the item was delivered. We even had an eBay rep on this board confirm the before/after scenario I presented above (but it was a few years ago and I'm not going to dig for it).

No, it will not close by July 6th. The date provided is when you can ask eBay to step in. I suggest asking eBay to step in if you want seller protections on FB removal. The case would close in your favor.

If you wait it out the 21 days (biz days?) and neither you nor the buyer escalates, then it will time out due to inactivity then it's a "no fault" situation so you don't get neg FB auto-scrubbed.

@wastingtime101 @monster-deals

I looked through emails and found my last INR- was an EIS order so they handle it 'on thier own'. This was just opened in April (20th) and I got a message that I had to do NOTHING. Buyer wound up getting Apr 29 (sold Mar 26_).

I now remember NEVER getting an INR from US buyer (had 2 past year, both EIS) so this is a new one for me. Interesting, but I always thought that when a 'seller' escalated, they get creamed and buyer wins?

Not for an INR when tracking confirms delivery (or delivery attempt) to the buyer's address on the order.

Also I remember the past discussion the eBay rep was Velvet and she basically said there's a 4 day window before an INR can be escalated and it won't auto-close before then because eBay is giving buyers a chance to present and work out delivery issues. And the time out window is 21 biz days which is over a month.

As you noted, eIS is different when the INR is filed after you have confirmed delivery to the US hub.

Is your money 'on hold' for this claim?

@ittybitnot  no, it's not. I guess I've never had an INR in the US before, I think I've had 2 total prior in 13 years, and both of those being in just the past year or so since EIS, and both were EIS.

I can share a situation I had about a year ago.  I filed and INR as a buyer.  Tracking showed delivered.  I submitted info when I filed the INR to prove that the sellers was running a scam on their buyers.  They shipped a much lighter item than what I bought to another address in my zip code.  What I ordered was heavy and would have weighted around 40 lbs.  What got shipped weighted about 2 lbs.

I won that INR.

I think they have slowed down the process because there are so darn many sellers using this zip code scam.  But I don't know that for sure.

I'm curious. Where did you get the weight, and how would eBay assess it didn't go to you.

Unless you got a document from the carrier stating it doesn't match your address.

I got the information from the carrier.  I was able to get them to give it to me in writing.
