Unwelcomed surprise. The ability to search for newly listed is gone. Categories are gone from the side to a drop down menu. Is this just a test on a select few or are all stores downgraded?

i did it immediately...luckily I have all my banners ever used saved in the original PSD files (layers) and in the merged PNG files for uploading also... first try is all it took, I expanded to 1800 pixel background as a guess work, transferred the layers, saved as PSD, merged, saved as PNG and uploaded and was good... not bad for something I figured would take several attempts to get right. However, how it looks on mobile/phone...idk..I'm on desktop PC

its actually 1800x399 what i uploaded...but idk if needs to be exact.. but should give anyone a close reference any way... the length is what matter, should be at least 200 width as they recommend...anyways, need to figure the other stuff out still but at least got rid of that greyed area they had on left hand side of the banner for now.

@my-cottage-books-and-antiques wrote:@nuclearomen It could be temporary, but I don't think so. I think ebay's new approach is : Think of the store landing page as your marketing tool, like a store flyer in the newspaper or as the cover of a mail order catalog, and the "See All' as your full catalog. Not everyone wants to go through the entire catalog, and you can use the landing page to direct them to stuff you want to highlight, like stuff on sale, or a really great new addition to your inventory, etc.
So, basically, the old store landing page is now the catalog for everything in your store (or it is the store itself) and the new store landing page is more about marketing.
As with most changes ebay makes, it will take a while for sellers and buyers to get used to it (I suspect buyers will adapt pretty quickly)
@my-cottage-books-and-antiques yeah...don't like it... and that's not what most sellers agreed to pay for. I need to look more into the advertising banners ...how the actually work/display on the store etc... but all in all, this is horrible idea...like most ebay ideas, but this is really bad... when do I get refund?
@nuclearomen the banner basically just shows a picture and some text with a button that then directs to the category or single listing of your choice.
Obviously if you are using it for real, you'd come up with a better title and description - that was just to test. 😉 It displays above "all items" and below your store banner/info.
In the fall update they said you could use the banner to "to grab buyers’ attention and showcase products, sales, or promotions" so I was a little disappointed you can't specifically choose to feature items that are part of a markdown sale or coupon promotion, for example.
Hopefully that's something they will add in the future, but in the mean time the workaround would probably be to create a new store category for "on sale" items you want to feature and direct the banner to that category.

@valueaddedresource so are you saying(showing) that if use a adverising banner that it will overwrite/replace your store banner (looks that way)??? What a crud deal/idea... this whole thing IMO sticks...seriously considering calling ebay about refund, I didn't agree to pay for any this nonsense.

@nuclearomen no - sorry for any confusion! I'm saying it appears under the store banner. Hang on, I'll try to get a screenshot that shows it all, but there's a lot of scrolling. lol

That's odd. Pretty sure my billboard is set at 1200 x 270 and it looks OK on my monitor at least.
10-26-2021 10:29 AM
@nuclearomen No, it doesn't replace your store banner. I put one up (poor quality photo, I was just testing things) You can see where it is positioned if you look at my store.

@nuclearomen see if this gives a better idea. It displays between the store info and the first row of items.

I guess I should add, I did not need to change my billboard. The original one displays as usual.
10-26-2021 10:35 AM
Oh, and my store name is the same as my ID, without the dashes between words. (For Christmas this year, I'm asking Santa to bring me a Discussion Board that actually works the way it's supposed to.....)

It was changing progressively in real time last night. I think it's the reason so many glitches happened with promotions I was trying to run. They wouldn't time out despite saying they were. So I deleted a bunch of listings and relisted. The real test is how will a customer see this. Just tested it on an iphone and no sorting really and it prompts the customer to give a thumb's up or down at the bottom. Competition can attack you now? Suppose a seller has 10M items? are customers really going to scroll until they get carpal tunnel? here's a clue ebay, many customers have no idea what they're looking for. They need some help. Now you've given them a blindfold, told them to remove their shoes and you through 10M thumbtacks on the floor.

Another classic eBay situation of too many overpaid programmers, trying to justify their salaries. They have no clue of how the real eBay is supposed to work. They'll call it an improvement, that will enhance our experience, and hope we swallow it.

@skeletonstore The thumbs up or down is for you to provide an opinion on ebay's new store design, not for customers to rate your store. On the phone, once you get into "see all", click "filter" at top right, choose Category and choose a category if you want to search by category

@skeletonstore the thumbs up or down is to provide feedback to eBay about the new experience not for competition to rate/attack you.
