Hello folks.
Did you know ?.... Paypal new policy does not refund seller's fees in case of a return / free return ??
HERE IT IS :
Amendments to the PayPal Account User Agreement. We’re changing how we treat refunds. If you refund (partially or fully) a transaction to a buyer or a donation to a donor, there are no fees to make the refund, but the fees you originally paid as the seller will not be returned to you.
--------------------------------
What do we do now ???
If paypal doesn't refund seller's fees and a buyer forces a return on eBay, all sellers will start losing big money.
Any ideas folks ???

Not much we can do but hope we don't get many returns.

Frankly, I am more worried about buyer cancellations through no fault of seller...just because ebay showed them something cheaper after the buyer paid you and hopefully you have not shipped yet. That one is the real killer in addition to trying to refund a buyer for shipping overcharges mostly due to the Cart for multiples not really working. JMO.

Yes, I have had, on several occasions, a buyer contact me after a sale claiming their child made a purchase or they input the wrong address and need to cancel. Will sellers not be refunded the fees from these transactions? I wrote to PayPal, but they have not yet responded.

No matter whether a return refund, a partial, or a cancellation you do not get back the fees. It has always been you wouldn't get back the PP .30, but now you get nothing back...except for aggravation lolol.

Switch to eBay's managed payments (Adyen) as soon as possible and see how that goes.
It's Billpoint all over again... apparently, everything old is new again.

Did we know? Well yes, some did, as there have been some threads already, and anyone using(accepting) PayPal was notified.
That will go away when we all transition are forced into "managed payments" processed for eBay by Adyen. PayPal will no longer be a problem. Then eBay can do the same thing if desired. Other posts on this subject seem to state that this is a very common practice among "funds processors".

I don't know of any merchant accounts that don't refund the transaction fee when a refund is issued to a cardholder. In fact, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, and Discover likely prohibit such a practice in their contracts.

According to your own link that you provided, the new policy will go into effect May 7, 2019.
AMENDMENTS TO THE PAYPAL ACCOUNT USER AGREEMENT
We are updating the PayPal Account User Agreement for U.S. customers. These changes will go into effect on May 7, 2019. If you agree to these changes, you don’t have to do anything. If you don’t agree with these changes, you may close your account. If you close your account before May 7, 2019, the changes will not apply to you.

Switch to eBay's managed payments (Adyen) as soon as possible and see how that goes.
eBay has already started rolling out PayPal as an accepted payment method for BUYERS in their new "managed payments" experience. Do you actually think that EBAY is going to eat the fees from cancellations and refunds? I would say not when they can just assign them to the sellers. If you carefully review the managed payments terms, it is already in place that they can keep the fees (if they so desire), they just are not doing it presently.
Just a matter of time.
I would suggest that the new PayPal policy is going to adversely affect "cancellation" requests......"So sorry, I missed your message. Your item has already been shipped."
