Did anybody else get a pop-up message from eBay a few weeks ago saying your listing views will be reset to 0 every month? What's up with this crap?

I think you misread the message.
I do not think that message says that listing views reset to 0 every month. I think is says that they will only include views from the past 30 days in the count.
So today, the count will include views from May 9 to June 8.
Tomorrow, the count will include views from May 10 to June 9.
The next day, the count will include views from May 11 to June 10.
etc.

I don't think that's what the message said....
Currently, they have adjusted the views to a 'rolling' 30 day total (that is the default)
in other words, the previous 30 days from the date you are viewing the number.....
to see MORE than 30 days, you need to click on the 'views' number and a popup will offer up to the previous 2 years (i think) of historic views...
They have also filtered out all of the "useless" hits/views

Ah yes, the classic fallacy of Post Hoc ergo Propter Hoc
My rooster crowed this morning and the sun immediately rose. Imagine that, my rooster has the power to make the sun rise.
I like the view count change.
I have listings that go back 3-4 years. The items sell on a regular basis and as I run low I restock. But because the listings are that old, under the old system, I had hundreds, and on occasion, thousands of views. I had no way of knowing how many of those views were current, indicating present interest, and how many were years old, therefore “stale”.
Under the new system I can see how many are actively looking at items NOW. If it is getting no to few views then that is a signal that maybe I should review the listing and maybe update or tweak it. Something that would not have occurred to me with 1000 views.
What you see as crap I see as ambrosia.

Hmm, my listings started showing real views. That told me what no one was actually looking at, I adjusted my prices and titles and now my sales are on fire. Those real view numbers are very valuable.

Whatever they did my sales have gone to zero. Sales have not been what they used to be but I doubt I sold enough last month to cover my store and this month so far is even worse. I have had about 2 small sales in 3 weeks. I probably did not cover the $60 for last month's store fees and this month so far is much worse. I had listed some stuff and some stuff on auction but not one of 70 auction sold. And who knows if anyone was looking because even auctions had mostly zeros.

What they did, did not change the views or the sales, just the way they were counted. Here's the announcement. They also got rid of the bots in the counter, which were 30% of the views.

Agreed completely. If I have something that has been listed for three years, it doesn't matter to me how many people have looked at it over those three years-- I want to see how many people are looking at it NOW to get an idea of how much current interest it has. I can decide if I want to adjust the price, take better photos, etc.

Hey I recognized our picture and realized I've bought stuff from you before! LOL

@richard1rst Another benefit is being able to look into the view count and see the view frequency over the past 90 days - thus I can see if views are sagging as time passes, are holding steady, or suddenly go up, etc., giving me a real-time picture of actual interest.

Did you raise your prices or did you lower them? Just curious since sometimes an increase in price will improve perceived quality for a product and can increase sales as well.

Most of what I sell is going to have other sellers with the exact same item, so in most cases I lowered them.
However a few days ago I listed a few childrens DVDs that were somewhat rare, saw 13 views by morning (most common number is 0 then 1) and I raised the price on them and they sold later that day.
There are very few no sales issues that aren't actually about the item prices. No matter how much the "I have been selling here for 20 years and KNOW my PRICES" people will kick and scream about it being something else. Because when you go look at their prices every single item with an easy to research price will have a bad price, which leads me to believe that the rest of their items are bad prices as well.
When it really comes down to it, trying to sell things for more than other people sell them for is not a viable business model. I would be insanely rich if I could just sell my items for 30+ percent what others were asking. That doesn't work unless you have 50,000 Youtube followers buying your stuff. Sure Commonwealth Picker and Crazy Lamp lady could sell a collectible item for 30 percent more than me, because they have followers viewing their store specifically and not instead searching for a specific item. It only works if you can somehow draw people into your store for general browsing. It doesn't work for anyone who searches a specific item.

Thanks for that. I didn't recall seeing that feature in the announcement. Good piece of add on information.
