My first return request-what to do

I am not sure how this works it's never happened in 15 yrs. The item is described in detail, buyer says to large to wear so I assume they never read the details and bid on the photo alone.  Do they send it me first their cost then I refund, or must I pay them and hope like heck they return item? It is as described so what happens if I refuse to return, I am guessing that ebay takes over and forces a return. Clearly I've done nothing wrong but I get the feeling I have to also pay return shipping, is that true? BTW my listings all say no returns accepted I am guessing that is also immaterial.

Re: My first return request-what to do

the request is official from Ebay, I re read it and the heading reads like this The buyer requested a return, but you're not obligated to accept a return for this item.

Ok, that answers the formal complaint question.

Your buyer did not declare the item to be not as described.

Rather, she chose one of the categories, such as "doesn't fit", which means that she formally accepted responsibility for the problem.

That means that if she does return it, she has to pay return shipping.

the request says "doesn't fit" is that one the buyers legit choices?

Yes!  That's one of the formal choices (she had to pick one of them), and a good one for you.

That is a remorse return and if you have a NO RETURNS policy you are free to reject it.  However, since the buyer is a regular customer you may wish to make and exception and accept it and let the buyer pay the return shipping.  Depending upon how good of a customer they have been in the past and if you will be able to resell the item, you may wish to just tell them to keep and dispose of the item themselves.  Of course, that depends on how much you value their business.

is that normal, not obligated? It is probably rare to sell for 15 yr. and never have a return so thanks for everyones help, tho some is contradictory.

That is an option given for a remorse return since you do not accept returns.  Had it been a not as described reason, or you had a return policy, you would not have been given the option to deny the return.

I'm afraid that getting buyers to read the full listing akin to leading a horse to water and trying to make them drink.  Of course, getting them to understand what they have read may be even more difficult.
