An item selling at $5 is just handing a $5 bill to ebay & you achieve NOTHING!

It was meant to be more entertaining than anything else, But some people just can't help themselves!

I did & it was the best deal made ever in the history of our nation, Possibly even the world!

You just don't know when to stop, even when asked to.

I did & it was the best deal ever made in all of history.

You might be able to sell more with a better discount. 5% is, well, not a very good discount. You'd probably make up with sales what you 'lose' in a higher discount offering even 10%.

20% is even better. That seems to be the discount/sale price range that at least brings traffic. For most buyers, 5% is almost as insulting as the 70%+ off offers are to sellers. 10%-15% off does work, but I've noticed it seems to work better with offers, rather than sale events. Perhaps the difference comes down to the fact that buyers expect a sale price for a sale item, but not necessarily for an offer. Sale prices of more than 30% off may indicate a need to move an item quickly, signaling a problem with either the item or the seller.
These are just my observations, and the price breaks that have yielded the best results for me. It may be different for others.

He's right, though.
Your price + shipping on that book is way higher than the competition.
And the most recent sales are for about $5, all in.
Maybe you could try lowering prices instead of running sales and see how it works?

I also offer an additional 5% off with coupon, Then ebay tells you to send an offer, & if you do now your up to a minimum of 15%, Where does it end?, I am not someone who works for nothing, & besides this post was not a complaint, someone turned it into that!

And once a book or other media item goes to worthless it generally stays there forever as the inventory inevitably builds up faster than they sell. While that book has a slight upward trend in sales price in the past 3 years it is a false gain. As the media mail price went up more than the shipped price of the book did.
This is one of those things that most sellers don't want to believe about books and media. Most is are unsellable already by normal users. The prices keep getting worse and they are simply never going to recover.

Or simply a clearance sale on the part of the seller, not unlike a store clear-out to get ready for new inventory.

There is nothing like a regular and universal mark down schedule to fix every mistake in your store eventually. Most of my stuff makes it through at least one 10 percent markdown before it sells.

How so? All I'm seeing is the usual tongue in cheek banter between the usual members... There have been far more heated threads here lately, and you khoros folks have done nothing!

I get your point, But 5 million bucks, not even close , A $5 item is like handing ebay a $5 bill & you get next to nothing.
