This Forum has really Deteriorated to way to much Mockery, Rudeness, Attitude, & Criticism, & Not Constructive Criticism, I have just been trying to find answers & suggestions on how to Improve Matters, Let's Face It, Not Many are doing Very Well at all!!, & they were before including myself!, & Now sales are deteriorating rapidly, & despite the obvious reasons, WHAT can be Fixed here, Like search is a complete MESS, Item Specifics another complete Mess, Listing Positions Completely Unfair to those who do not want to spend even more, or offer free shipping & returns, So if No One has Suggestions for fixing things, WHY even bother with this Forum??

We can't help just because some newbies offer hot wheels for 3.00 at auction and show up right next to yours....it is a very competitive category....
Hot Wheels also just plain don't sell that well unless you have certain specific ones, period. I know, I've got a whole bunch of them (new in their packaging, got 'em for cheap from the thrift store and figured I'd flip them-- that was a mistake) that I had listed for about three years that just didn't move. When I put stuff back up after shutting down my store for a while due to COVID, I didn't even bother relisting them. They're still sitting out in my storage unit.

I believe you have been given good answers and advice on your problems. If you want to consider those comments from people with bad attitudes, rude, or just plain unwanted criticism it is totally up to you. It is your option to take heed or skip what you've been told. Good luck on your future sales.

Maybe try them in lots? Oddly, now if they are a little older, they might move. We sold several lots loose lately that actually went for more than I thought they would.

I might try that, yeah. I had thought it was a good investment when I bought them but they sure turned out to be a real dud-- not only did they not sell, they hardly got any views or watchers, either. That much certainly wasn't eBay's fault in any way.

Lol, reminds me of the legendary Bobmill. Now he knew how to liven up the boards.

Uh, where exactly, is this 'pouncing'?
It's the low impact version of jumping to conclusions. You can do it anywhere.

Am I the only one here that frequented the old Trust and safety board back around 2000?
Compared to these boards today, that was the wild-wild west.
"Pinks" were actual ebay employees and they moderated the boards and posted
on a regular basis. And sometimes they would take no prisoners.
"Address the post and not the poster" was the mantra.
Disagreeing with a poster is neither rude or mockery. It's simply a different opinion.

True that.

One of the major stumbling blocks is eBay has ALWAYS catered to the buyers and could really not give a hoot about what sellers think. Because of that there are a LOT of things that I simply will not list on eBay due to the risk. High dollar and high target items are too easily moved on other venues without having to pay the fees and take the risk. Personally I have very few issues with the search engine from a buyer perspective. A lot of what comes back is dependent on how good a job the seller did in listing the item with the key words I am looking for. I find the item specifics to be a major annoyance but understand why eBay put them in to try and increase the effectiveness of the search engine.
EBay is probably not going to do much to change things until it begins to SERIOUSLY impact their bottom line and at present that is not happening although the 4th quarter report was not all that impressive the more interesting one is going to be the first quarter reporting for 2022. There is really nothing unfair about eBay that is personal perception but the bottom line is it's eBay's site and they make the rules and policy.
Most of the sales downturns are not a result of anything that eBay has done. The biggest impact has been all the externalities and increased competition. When times get tough buyers become penny pinchers and will extensively search for the best value and that is not always eBay these days. I list across multiple forums and venues and while my sales are down on eBay they are up on most of the other forums/venues for a lot of reasons.
I use this forum primarily to try and help other sellers who are just learning the ropes and hopefully the responses prevent them from making some of the same rookie mistakes that I made when I started. I complain about a number of things just like most posters but fully realize that most of the time it is a futile effort.

I remember getting sent to the Pink Island, more than once. One time it was for a month.
A rather smug individual here once bragged to me that THEY had never had a pink slap - I asked them what was wrong??

"I remember getting a few pink slaps!"
Me too! Getting the old 'timeout'. The 'rosy vacation". And we couldn't even mention it without getting it again. I've been warned here a couple of times but never sent to the corner. Yay!

Yup, I also got the 30 day timeout...that was a looooong month.
03-28-2022 03:37 PM
Yes Im sure most of the old timers remember them too!

GOOD OLD MEMORIES OF FULL SCALE WAR ZONES EH.....
Yea, things were pretty crazy during the "usenet wars". I am still friends with one of the "net legends". I was to be a witness in the Godfrey vs. Demon libel case before it was settled but at least I got a free trip to London on Demon's dime.
