Re: Mistake?

For me, sales are typically slow for Jan/Feb. I'm assuming it has to do w/ Christmas debt. Then people get their tax refunds and it gets back to normal.

Re: Mistake?

Anywho, as I was saying. Don't know if I will use it or not. Still praying for this store to produce. Have quite a penny invested in inventory. Reading all the negative on here I am really worried now.

Before it is said . . . No, I cannot keep lowering prices. 😏

Re: Mistake?

Thanks for the reply. So it is normal to be slow at this time of year? Am at a total loss. Dont know if I should keep getting inventory in or just list the rest of current inventory and not order more? New to this store thing. Praying I did not make a mistake. I am getting nervous as I have invested around 15000. in this adventure. Everyone is making Ebay sound as if it is barely hanging on?

Re: Mistake?

Just remember, those who are selling well lately probably won't be here bragging, so you're mostly getting only one side of the story.

Re: Mistake?

I'm not a gambler so I would wait to see how well the current inventory sells.
No doubt there will be other posters who say the inventory is flying off the shelves. That is quite possible, especially if their stuff is more desirable than my stuff. For me, it depends on what items I find on my daily treasure hunts. You might try to sell on both sites simultaneously to recoup your investment.

Re: Mistake?

Another thought . . . I'm assuming you've checked to see what others sellers are selling your items for and are undercutting them? You can also see by going to the Advanced Search Sold Listings what that particular brand has actually sold for in the past.

You have been moving some product.

If you go to take more pictures at some point, you might try to set up more lighting from different side angles to brighten up some of the products and get rid of the shadows.

Re: Mistake?

Thanks I will do that. Was wondering if it was bright enough.

Unfortunately, this is an ebay board and we are not allowed to tell you.  It will depend on your product, of course, as to other options open to you.

Sold on ebay for over 20 years, but cultivated my reputation elsewhere  starting ten years ago.  I am an eBay BUYER now. Buy here sell elsewhere for 3 times the money on a bad day.   It is just business and not really a secret should you care to research.

Re: Mistake?

Yes. My prices are higher on some, lower on some and equal on some. I am pretty sure some of the authentic items I sell are also being sold that are not authentic by other sellers. 🙄

Re: Mistake?

Tax refunds? Which ones?

Millions of Americans are finding out that pesky truth of tax cuts not good for the middle class.

Don't depend on it.

Always assume that the items offered at prices lower than yours.. really are authentic.

Your items are being offered by many other sellers here.

Before you invested that 15K, I hope you were aware of the amounts of comparable listings here, the prices that Sold listings showed (compared to what you paid to buy) .. and how many listings ended without sales.

Thanks,

Lynn

Re: Mistake?

Some items offered at a lower price are authentic. Some are not. When I see items being shipped from China that are made in th U.S. I do not believe those items are authentic. It is just my opinion. Yes, I did research it. I do look at other listings to see what is or is not selling. It seems what is selling today is sitting tomorrow.

Re: Mistake?

This is actually my good season but that is a quirk of being a stamp dealer.

My postage sales are a bid off, because those customers are eBay sellers and this is a slow period for them.

First- constructive criticism. The pictures of those nail dryers are awful. Do you have a catalogue picture you could scan ? Or take them out of the (already opened) boxes and show what the customer will get.

A butcher friend calls January 'hamburger month'. I know it's March, bear with me.

People are buying necessities, not fripperies like cosmetics.... but......

They also want a break. A treat.

Consider putting some of your lower priced small/sample size items into Promoted Listings.

You can choose the fee - as low as one percent of selling price.

Put a nice note into each package. Perhaps offer a small discount on their next purchase (Ten percent off on purchases over $25 -- that's a $2.50 discount. And include a price list* with your shipment.)

You pay for these costs two ways, in greater sales possibly, but more likely by raising your asking prices to cover those costs.

If you have a $25 item which you are Promoting at 1% and offering a 10% discount to repeat buyers, list it at $27.95.

You are offering Free Shipping to the USA. Good. You do know that Free Shipping means your shipping costs are included in the asking price, right?

Thank you for shipping internationally. We Canadians detest the GSP because our duty-free allowance is only $15USD.

On such items you might get more international sales by using First Class International Parcel, which is cheaper to the buyer (long story, and I know it looks expensive, it isn't)  and includes Confirmation of Delivery to most of the countries you ship too.

Look under Size and Shape on this website:

https://postcalc.usps.com/?country=10440

and scroll down to the bottom of the page.

*Just print out a page from your eBay listings.
