I sold to someone and mailed it first class. The tracking shows its delivered but the buyer says there is nothing at the front porch where it was left. What is my responsibility to this buyer. He is asking me why he should do if I could help.

Be empathetic.........how would you feel if it happened to you?........ "So sorry there is a problem, please check with family/neighbors and report it to your local PO as they want to know if porch pirates are active in an area. It is also possible that the mailman left it in the wrong location and they have GSP to show exactly where/when it was delivered. They will respond faster to you, their customer, than to me.....so better you contact them. Again, my apologies, but just not much I can do after the PO says it was delivered......"

You're covered if it shows being delivered. The buyer needs to contact his/her local PO, neighbors, police, etc. Nothing you can do from your end.

Your responsibility ends when the package shows delivery, but I always try to help by suggesting they check with family members and neighbours (our mail gets mixed up here), check around the delivery area, and also ask the letter carrier if they can. Also sometimes the package is marked as delivered one day, and for some reason ends up on my front stoop the next day. I once had a package jammed so tightly in the back of my big mailbox that I didn't even see it - it had been misdirected and my neighbour, who apparently has hands of steel, crammed it back there so it would be out of sight of anyone.
