Only the buyer can change an incorrect bid.
The buyer can go in and change for a few reasons, and wrong amount is one.
The buyer will need to bid the correct amount after the removal.
Or the buyer can wait it out and hopefully be outbid OR if it closes with this buyer as the winner, they can not pay and take the non-payment strike.

If the auction hasn't ended yet, you can just cancel his bid and the auction can carry on without him:

If it's too late, and he has already won the auction, then you can cancel the transaction based on "Buyer requested."

Just let the auction run its full natural course. If the buyer isn't the winner, then you have nothing to worry about. If the buyer is the winner, then give the buyer a few days to pay & then cancel the order for non-payment, then relist the auction.

You can not fix the buyers bid amount.
The bidder will need to retract and rebid.
Bid cancellations look fishy to other bidders.

If it is the bidder that has made 5 bids, it does not appear as a "mistake".
Personally, I would block the ID, and cancel the bids.
