I've always had my account setup to charge sales tax. I am located in florida, it's the law i must remit sales tax each month to the state. Now that this new sales tax is in effect. Will EBAY be collecting the sales tax and sending it in to the state, or will i still receive the sales tax from sales of FLORIDA to FLORIDA sales?
Thank you

Last two months of August and September I filed all sales a tax except since I only sell on Ebay. But today I can not file all tax except as it gives me Invalid Amount Entered. Now I don't know what to do to file sales taxes online.

I was informed that even though EBAY collects the Florida sales tax and remits it to them, you still have to file your quarterly form (even though you do not send any money) since EBAY does this.....when I first called DOR in Florida the person answering my question is talk to EBAY....when I said EBAY had no answers in filing the quarterly report, they said they don''t have the answer for me......
so now I still file the quarterly reports to Florida DOR

When i asked the question.I just wasn't sure what would happen if i all of a sudden start reporting 15,000 in sales, with "0" in state sales. Ill give them a call Monday though to get it clarified. My accountant died, so it's been a PITA to get his family to give me any information, I've been emailing them every week, and their communication has been bad, still waiting for my 2020 corporate and personal tax copies to show in the mail >< sigh
I'm not sure why it would be awkward or unusual, most states are doing this & have published how to handle it. Check with your taxing authority, but in my state (not FL), I still have to file & I file with 0's in all the boxes. Been doing that for 2 years now. It's what my state told me to do. It must be fine, as I haven't heard a word from them.

My areas of concern are:
- If it is worth the hassle of having a sales tax certificate just to file a 0.00$ sales tax return every month/quarter? It may be, due to the resale certificate, or because you are selling on other platforms (though those likely also remit tax on your behalf), but it is something worth considering.
- If one is due a deduction which would normally be deduced from remitted sales tax (like improperly billed sales tax on items purchased for resale), but sales tax return will be 0.00$ from here on out, how does one get back what one is owed?
I'm not in FL, but my state has been a part of it for almost 2 years now & there was no problem with it. I just file the zero'd form, in my case annually.
For me the it's still worth it to have the resale certificate. I mean it was worth it when it was a PITA to file, why wouldn't it be worth it now that all I have to do is 0 out every box? But, if I did not renew my certificate, I wouldn't have to file at all. I still find it worth it b/c now the filing is a 2 minute process.
Part 2 of your question, I'm not sure, I've never had deductions & have never filed to get overpayment on sales tax (even though I regularly buy & DO pay sales tax at some places), b/c it's just such a hassle in my state to fill out that form.

eBay is collecting the tax, but they are also collecting sales tax on numismatic items over $500 which is not correct.
There is no tax on these items over $500
this causing many people to deal direct.
