eBay's new policy to force users to use "Good Til Canceled" is one of the worst decisions eBay has made in the last 10 or 15 years. An EcommerceBytes survey conducted earlier this month states that 72% of those who responded think it is a BAD IDEA. I guess we will find out if eBay cares what its customers think... Hello Amazon?

I don't like this "Good til cancelled" change either ! - Before we had the option to list for 3 days, 5 days, 7 days, 10 days and 30 days - then we had the "Good til cancelled" option.
I always liked listing my items for either 5 or 7 days, because I believed that my items would sell faster if there was a time limit and I would get my money sooner ! 🙂
I believe that in sales, when there is a time limit and people start watching your items (in the hopes it will get cheaper !) but then they also see that time is running out and if they don't compromise and make a decision whether they want it or not, then they are going to lose the item ! - so the shorter duration listing option which eBay have now taken away was actually a very good thing for sellers, as it used to help their items sell more QUICKLY ! - now because of this my sales are dead slow and virtually non existent ! 😞
YEAH ANOTHER CHANGE BY EBAY TO CRIPPLE THEIR SELLER'S - THANK YOU EBAY - HOW NICE !! *NOT !* 😞 😞

@justdecadent wrote:I agree. Although Good Til Canceled is useful for some items, we all know that no one buys anything in collectibles until the last day of the listing. So if you list Good Til Cancelled, it may get in watch lists, but there won't be any transactions for at least 29 days. Having the opportunity to CHOOSE how long a particular item needs to be listed at the DISCRETION of the SELLER makes the most sense. Some things 5 days, some 10...It all depends on the item. This isn't Walmart but it seems as thought Ebay wants to Make it a Walmart shopping experience. Having the opportunity to shift gears on the amount of time for listing helps fuel sales. Relegating every single fixed price listing to a 30 day auto renewing purgatory is horrific. There needs to be more lattitude these days in how sales are structured. Not less. Change it back! I am currently looking for a different platform for sales. There are plenty out there.
Your post is number 1,000,000,000,001 on this subject with this same analysis, maybe nobody listening? (the biggest problem also is unsold items no longer refresh and disappear from incidental browsing visibility, buyers search newly listed also) anyone in art, collectible antique biz knows 9 out of 10 items to achieve retail will take longer than 90 days to sell unless you want to sell 10 cent on the dollar.
(this is post # 1,000,000,000,002,eBay exec's only listen to clapping seals ya think?)

20 year eBay user here & This (and many more things) is why SO many are using Facebook Marketplace now.
Ebay THINKS it needs to think for us.
Good Til Cancelled sucks.
Can't have an auction with BIN, and best offer and immediate payment
They CHARGE you for having something on 3 days ? (less bandwidth on their part- they should, DISCOUNT you for that)
Start a draft on their app, then go to edit it on a desktop and the PRICES YOU PUT IN CHANGE !
They Suggest pricing for you.
You put a starting price and they MANDATE what the BIN should be.
Ebay, I know you aren't listening. And you want people with eBay stores. been that way for years. But you are the old fogie on the 'git off my lawn' block.
MAKE it easier to sell. JUST AS IT IS TO BUY.
and protect sellers as much as buyers.
You have lost your way. STOP THINKING FOR US !

Actually, justdecadent posted way back on March 21, so theirs was probably only post #1001 on this topic. But yours is indeed probably post # 1,000,000,000,002.

It’s terrible! eBay is relisting my SOLD items!! After each sale I have to end the listing manually. If I can’t get to it immediately a buyer can purchase an unavailable item! eBay is causing potential UNNECESSARY PROBLEMS for MY sales!!

I'm on board with those who are ready to leave Ebay for another selling option. Is anyone able to supply a list of other selling options? I need to get on board with another company ASAP. Ebay is making it too complicated to sell with them any longer, especially with this GTC policy. They are gradually taking away all of our seller independence. Time to leave.
