Managed Payments and the Ability to Invoice Buyer for additional charge

I do not get requests like this too often, but we do not currently have our listings set up for mutiple shipping methods and prices, as we offer free shipping on everything with Priority Mail. I used to check off Priority Mail express for additional charge and I really need to do that again for the Holiday coming up. But today I got one of those I need it in two days quarenteed and found myself having to ask the buyer if they have a PP account to pay extra for the extra fast shipping. It would have been nice if we could invoice through ebay as well if stuff like this happens.

You can make a special ebay listing for "extra shipping charges".

I see lots of sellers doing that.

You cannot charge the customer any more for shipping than you advertise.

If the customer asks for upgraded service, you are allowed to agree and charge more.

You can ask for his PP/email address to bill him for the additional postage.

If the customer needs two day service, he should not be ordering by mail, but heading out to the mall.

I am old and cranky.

I would never do express , If they hit you with a return you're out a lot of money.

Actually all I need to do to  try to avoid this in the future is set all the listings up with the choice for the buyer to pay extra for the Priority Mail express, along with free shipping for regular priority mail. However, they may choose the Regular priority mail and still ask for it to come in with the express without paying for it. They may do this accidentally not knowing at first that the item will not get there in time. Then you still have to invoice for the rest of it if you do not want to take an additional hit on your profit margin.

It has usually not been a major problem for us to accommodate the buyer for an express shipment. Some people really need their stuff for a birthday holiday etc and most are very appreciative and do not return stuff.

I had this same issue yesterday, if the buyer only asked before buying and he said in response to this was "oh sorry I'm new to eBay and didn't know the processes" lol isn't that kinda just common sense to do so.? and being with no option for an extra charge after the initial purchase & payment, I canceled and refunded then added to the listing quantity and selected a faster but most importantly a more expensive shipping cost for the buyer. However of course that new listing tool everyone loves wouldn't let me save almost anything in the shipping section in regards to editing any existing or saved shipping parameters, just wouldn't save and kept thinking & thinking no mater which selection I made. So in the end had to raise the price itself.

I just tried to bulk edit all my listings to ADD the choice for Priority Mail Express for a 25 dollar extra charge along with the choice for free shipping and on the bulk edit I can’t seem to do it. I can do it going through individual listings but not the bulk. Over 600 listings to change and does somebody know how to do this in bulk right now. I used to be able to do it before.

Yes, you have to cancel the sale and then have them repurchase with the additional charge. We need to be able to invoice buyers through managed payments.

So I mentioned that I used to be able to bulk edit all these listings over 600 and add the additional service for Priority Mail Express as an extra charge along with all the listings showing free with just regular priority Mail. Today I tried to bulk edit and it has no choice on the bulk as far as I can see to ADD and additional service unless I am not doing this right.

Yes, the new bulk listing section will not let you add an additional shipping service. The only way to do it is to go through every single listing and change that. I have over 600 listings that would take forever.

There is something wrong with the new bulk editing tool. If I went in before and added an additional service for extra charge as a choice the buyer could chose that service and pay extra instead of free shipping. I used to be able to bulk edit that section and add the additional service. Now I have to go through over 600 listings individually to add the service. Fix this please ebay.

Ok I was wrong. I figured out how to bulk add additional shipping services. There is a choice on the bulk edit. It has shipping service number 1 and shipping service number 2. For free shipping as the primary you set that as Priority Mail regular, for shipping service number 2 you add priority Mail Express and then add the additional shipping charge to the buyer if they want it extra fast and then they Pay FOR THAT right away when they buy the item. No invoicing involved.

I only need to set up all listings with the option for the buyer to pay extra for Priority Mail Express, along with free shipping for regular Priority Mail. You can still request it to come in with the express without paying for it if you choose Regular priority mail. They may do this accidentally without realizing at the time that the item won't arrive on time. If you don't want to take a hit on your profit margin, you have to invoice for the rest of it.

It is only necessary to set up all listings with Priority Mail Express as an option, along with free shipping for regular Priority Mail. Even if you choose Regular priority mail, you can request it is sent express without paying. They may do this accidentally without realizing that the item won't arrive on time. It would help if you invoiced for the remainder unless you want to lose your profit margin.
