My sales have dropped by over 50% since this time last year. Sure, I have new competition, but after searching on my phone for my product I was extremely disappointed to see that when I click on "full description," it pops-up my description which contains text and ads, but everything is four times too big! It is supposed to be responsive to the device I am using.
I have an Android smart phone and was testing my product page using Mozilla Firefox. I will later test other Apps and have my brother test my listing on his Apple phone.
The last time I checked, I would click on the "full description" link on my phone, and instead of having a pop-up, the description text and photos would load up in the same window a-ok. Whoever changed this code did not test it properly!
This is affecting all my listings. I worked very hard to make my sales copies. Now, they aren't even loading up properly. It has also taken eBay four phone calls and over three weeks to get an a-hole competitor to take down my plagiarized text and photos with absolutely no results. Now I see my sales copies aren't even being displayed properly on small devices. This is beyond unacceptable.
Please help.

@goldstaroffers wrote:You two are idiots. Yes it is ebay's fault. First off, my code WAS responsive as of their last platform update. My code was rudimentary, something I learned my first day in HTML class back in 2022. On top of that, if I redefine the variables to height 50%, width 50%, it displays the image INCORRECTLY! If you two dip **bleep**s knew anything about coding, you would know that this is **bleep**ed! When I said, "I changed the width to "100%", got rid of the height command..." I was making the point that by using improper code (missing height command) is how to make the image appear correctly. Again... invalid code is what ebay requires to make photos appear correctly.
Ebay is **bleep**ed, this forum is useless, and ebay support is as usefull as Hellen Keller after getting ran over by a **bleep** dump truck. Ebay wouldn't even delete a competitors listing who stole all my marketing material. Lost $2500 in sales last month. I am beyond **bleep** off.
Actually height/width need not be specified at all if the bounding element(s) are made responsive, the whole idea is to let the browser handle the rendering of the page. Browser standardization has been a problem for many many moons, for example Javascript which drives Asynchronous code. This is why libraries exist that are already vetted and hopefully well against the swath of browsers, they take care of the differences in javascript and often how browsers react to dynamic changes of elements.
If for example I were to use my very very old smartphone making no attempt update the browser I'll see page renderings at sites around the net that are completely or partially botched looking as I'm sure many here have experienced.
Online HTML web editors have had hosts of problems as well over the years as the "What You See is What You Get" is being produced by a web editor made via javascript code (A computer language sort of built into the web browser(s). ) which in themselves are subject to the nuanced differences between browsers which as you might imagine exacerbate problems.
Me? Oh, software engineer for 40+ years.

You do realize there is a link within all of our listings that say "Have one to sell? Sell Now". By clocking on "Sell Now" The title of the listing is copied word for word for the new seller.
It is not against ebay policy to use your item title or pictures for that matter. If you read the TOS you will see this. You used to be able to have your pictures taken down from other sellers but they did away with that years ago.

It's weird, if I use only "width=100%", it works, but if I add the "height="100%" command, it warps the image. I will test it later tonight without both commands. just to see what happens. As for browser responsiveness, check out Bootstrap. It is a CSS framework that can easily solve this. Ebay coders are too dumb to implement it into their platform. Sigh.

I always make my own custom sales copies. I never use the sell now link. That is messed up that it auto copies my title. As for the eBay policy, federal laws overrule their **bleep** policies. If I have to, I will get an attorney involved. I already have the sellers contact info. On top of that, the guy is not offering accessories like I am, but is advertising that he is. He stole a piece of text from me verbatim, and didn't even bother to read it. He is effectively defrauding people using my own words. This guy needs to stop f-ing with me.

now sold out of his product.
If, of course, he had any product.
Bookmark him and see what happens over the next 30-60 days.

One of the longstanding complaints has been that eBay takes our pictures as theirs, once we load them.
They go into eBay's catalogue of images.
Usually this is not a problem, since much of what is sold is mass market and there are no noticeable differences between your purple vergangle and my purple vergangle.
But when purple vergangles are scarce or when sellers put extra effort into developing good pictures, it becomes at the very least annoying.
It is however apparently legal, because we are told they are going to do this.

Negative space is an important design element. Just wait until they limit the description to anything but a typed paragraph in black 14pt font. We all see it coming. For now eBay recommends keeping the formatting simple. When you make a listing and opt to use some of the elaborate custom features this pops up. "Buyers trust simple, consistent formatting."

I will have no choice if he comes back.

"Negative space is an important design element. "
You mean leaving enough space to make it easy to read? Like not cluttering up everything?

We have copyright laws and and laws regarding honest selling. He is using false advertising to compete with me. This is **bleep**. If ebay won't help me, I will deal with him in small claims.
