Re: Mailing supplies

Sure, they will sell to anyone even if you have never and will never sell a single thing on eBay.

Re: Mailing supplies

Yes all you do is put “eBay shipping supplies” in the search box to search for sellers selling those supplies.

Re: Mailing supplies

It's better to just buy plain brown boxes /packaging.   You don't want porch thieves to think that because the box says Ebay on it , there is something very valuable inside.  I bought the ebay tape at a yard sale and will only use when I double box and ONLY on the inside box. I do not advertise that the package is from Ebay.

Re: Mailing supplies

Yes, you can buy without a store.

But if you have a store you get a coupon for shipping  supplies 4 times a year, once every quarter.

Re: Mailing supplies

If I had my choice of boxes to steal off a porch and could only carry one it would NOT be the eBay one that I would steal.

I'd go with the Amazon, Wayfair, Target etc. etc. etc., they would probably at least be new items that I could flip. Maybe if the eBay one was shipped via authentication and was the size of a shoe box I would grab it.

Re: Mailing supplies

Why don't you just get a USPS account and order them free from USPS? Of course you are limited to priority mail type boxes but I pickup boxes from the local stores for free that I use for non priority mail items. Packing tape and bubble wrap I find at estate and yard sales for next to nothing.

Re: Mailing supplies

I buy most of my shipping supplies On ebay, but not From ebay. I keep them simple and unbranded. Naturally I use my buying account to do it and not any selling account.

 Ok you got my curiosity.

Why do you not buy them with your selling account?

Re: Mailing supplies

I have plenty of priority usps supplies but my concern is having to buy supplies for ground advantage. Bought two plain brown large mailer envelopes at usps this morning for roughly $8. Crazy!

I have been using Amazon boxes but just ran out. Sooo, one day at a time.

Re: Mailing supplies

You can try buying just regular brown/white boxes at www.uline.com.     There are vendors here too but read the feedback.  Some of them sell very poor quality boxes.  The photos look like great boxes but if you read the feedback, many of the buyers consider the boxes flimsy.    So if buying here or on Amazon, read the reviews carefully.  Otherwise, uline sells excellent boxes.

You can get free boxes too at places like Dollar tree.  You can NOT ship a box that says batteries or flammable.  But you can always put those boxes inside a cheap plastic polymailer.   You can buy those here too.   The worse place to buy shipping supplies is the post office.

Re: Mailing supplies

I totally agree that an ebay box is the last one a porch pirate would take. Thieves are looking for new merchandise they can turn over quickly.  Yes, new merchandise is sold on ebay, but that's not the general perception.

When I mail out something in a non-ebay plain box or envelope, or a priority box/envelope, I always brand it myself with ebay tape (sometimes with just one 4" strip that says ebay).

Yes, that is crazy  USPS deliberately prices their supplies higher than other local resources, so they can't be accused of being competitive.  Try Staples, or online resources. You can get 100 eBay branded large padded envelopes for $46.25, i.e., less than 50 cents each.
