There use to be some "hot selling item" lists on eBay where you could view the listings that had received the most views in different categories. I am no longer able to find these type of lists, have they been discontinued or can someone show me how to find them? Haven't thought about those in awhile but might be useful in thinking of new items to feature.

Haven't seen anything like that around here. Actually, I don't think I'd probably check it out anyway.
I want my items SOLD before they rack up many views, so when I see an item with a lot of views... but NO sale yet... I have to wonder what is preventing a sale from happening??? How could it get so bad as to be being seen, and then being decided against that many times?
I know a lot of members want tons of views for their items. I just want a reasonably quick sale and then package and send it out! Done, pocket the money. Do a few dance steps, crack a Coke, and go back to work.
I expect if that list still exists somewhere, here or is kept elsewhere online, somebody here will know.

I think you're referring to what once was called "the pulse." Long gone, but it was fun to see what people were looking at, if not actually buying.
Now, eBay sends e-mails to promote what they think are "hot" items -- hoping that sellers will fall for the hype and add to the clutter. Or lure newbies into thinking they can jump on the bandwagon and make a fortune. Most of the items are scam magnets such as high-priced electronics and designer clothing.
My best advice is to find something that's unique to a region and not readily available nationwide. Or try consumables -- items that people need and want and must replenish on a regular basis. Souvenir stuff. Impulse items. Useful, cute, fun . . . almost anything that shows puppies, kittens or slogans that bring a smile.

If they are items that are getting a lot of views, why would you want to list the very same thing?
The trick is to list stuff no-one else HAS (or at least has yet lol)

I fell for that fingerling thing. Good thing I was only able to purchase one. When I looked up the value here on eBay, I decided to donate it to Toys for Tots.

LOL The only ones I snagged went (or are going) to the grandkids = )
eta: it's a real PITA snagging a 'hot toy' for a birthday present when the kid has 2 kids born in December, one right before and one right after Christmas. Thank goodness she spaced out the other 3.

One big problem is that as soon as that list came out, that category would be flooded.
If eBay told sellers that there's a huge demand for chewed pens, tomorrow there would be a million chewed pens.
