MISUSED return request

Hello ebay community,

I sold a FarmerTec MS660 chainsaw to a member that won it in an Auction format. He paid 510.00 for it plus 61.22 for shipping. Total of $571.22. When He received the saw he messaged me and told me that the saw was "counterfiet" and unless I send him a STIHL chainsaw he would "get the law involved" ....lol. I didnt advertise such saw, never not one time. Infact, the very first word of my listing description said FARMERTEC......MS660 chainsaw. Item specifics under "brand" said FARMERTEC. First sentance of my Description said it was a FARMERTEC MS660.

He opened a false return request claiming "counterfiet"    In order for something to be claimed counterfiet I would have to pass it off as one thing when its another. When clearly I did not. Ebay put the return request on hold for the buyer to provide picture proof as to his claim. Well you guessd it, no pictures, not even a response. Ebay granted the return a day early. So he sent the saw back. When I reseived the saw back, he used the saw. I even provied proof in the form  of pictures. Where he left bar oil and fuel in the tank when he used it. They gave him his money back.

This transaction cost me the $571.22 owed to ebay, plus the $51.00 ebay fee, plus $6.12 for the ebay shipping fee, plus the $37.07 for the return shipping cost, plus the $36.36 for the initial shipping cost. Now ebay forced the fees through my bank and made it go negative so another $30.00 fee.

So this transaction cost $731.55, that of wich $160.55 actually came out of my pocket.  When ebay should have never granted the return in the first place. I have ebay recorded telling me that "it shouldnt have been done, but there is nothing that we can do about now the return has been started" They even told me that it was buyers remorse, I have a MANAGER telling me that, After the fact OF COURSE.

What can I do, I am a single Father that was disabled 15 months ago with permanent nerve damage down both my legs. Having a spinal fusion surgery Aug. 30, 2018. Building these saws is my ONLY income. So having this wrongfully granted return really hurt me.

Please help with suggestions

Thanks Wayne

Fwiw, buyer was shipped a new saw and returned one that he'd used.  *If* there were issues with the title and / or description they didn't stop him from using the saw and then abusing the MBG to get a full refund.

"New other" saw had already been run.

Re: MISUSED return request

Unfortunately people read but somewhere between the eyes and the head it all goes wrong. I appreciate that you want to be honest with your customers. I am the same too. Unfortunately, eBay doesn't seem to like to side with sellers these days, so this sort of return happens quite often.

Have you tried calling and askng to speak with a manager or senior CS? That would be my next step.

Good Luck!

Re: MISUSED return request

I'm sorry but the listing is very deceptive with obvious keyword manipulation all over it. Even using a false part number and the reviews associated with it. And more than enough bloat to make it confusing at best, impossible on a phone.

So sorry this happened to you.  Were very glad you got the item back.  They can return for any reason they can think up it dont matter and there is no way to prove your case with the current system.  Block the buyer so they cant come back.  You can also report this person for damaging the item before it was sent back.  Other than that your limited as to what you can do.  Best regards

In addition - I'd report it to the Post Office - he shipped it with gas in it!!!

Good luck!!

It had a STIHL Clutch bell on it. So yes I will use STIHL. I am as Honest as I can be.

If it was a Farmertec chain saw, then why didn't you put the true brand name Farmertec in the title?

Sorry all this happened to you.  Newbie sellers with feedback under 300  and list  high valued items  are targets of scam buyers.  I reconmend that if  you want to sell high priced items that you do local pickup only  with buyer paying you  then on the spot .

That wasn't the problem. OP is keyword spamming with unclear pictures.

They were just begging for this to happen.

They are selling Frankensaws but using brand names and model numbers that do not belong in the title but in a detailed description of what and how they re-built the chainsaw with.

Re: MISUSED return request

I have 3 cell phne that I use in different ways. Yes my description IS cell phone friendly. If that were so they would NOT have an EBAY app for cell phones.....
And that is exactly what I did, I let them know it had a stihl part on it. And the only reason I used a brand name is for that reason.

Re: MISUSED return request

So your saying if I sold a HANES white shirt that when the customer bought it he was mad because he thought he was buying a Fruit of the Loom??? or someone purchased a sprite and was made because they wanted a 7up based off the fact they both were clear???? And it doesnt matter if the saw was pink and purple, It was stated SEVERAL time the make of the saw. So you tell me how I was wrong. Because I put in the title it had a "stihl clutch bell" Did it say it WAS a STIHL Chainsaw?

Re: MISUSED return request

His reason for return constituted him NOT to run and use the saw. I dont know ANYONE that will friviously spend 600 bucks without reading what they are buying!!!!

I`m trying to help you. You are welcome to take my advise or leave it. The choice is yours. You asked for the advise. I`ve attached a screenshot of what I see when I click on your ad. You will see there is a box that says in blue "read full description". When this box appears, according to ebay, your listing is not cell phone freindly and may not be HTTPS secure. If you`d like to fix the issue....hit me back here and I will walk you thru fixing it. It`s pretty easy to fix. As far as using the brandname in your listing....it`s your risk to take. We are trying to save you from an ebay bot taking down your listing and a violation attached to your account by ebay. Granted it may not happen but.....it could happen.Capture.PNG
