Hi @bigdeals.etc, we're actually hoping that it'll be a pretty busy day!

Brian - I hope you are right - but Ebay once again is targeting the big boys and NIB sellers - not the little guys who really made this site as popular as it was. Sales of vintage streetwear are popular on other sites as are mid century items such as lighting, furniture and decorations. This is where Ebay is dropping the ball - not promoting sellers here who have the real deal and not the newly made but falsely describe retro vintage new items from China.

I really hope you're right and I'm wrong, that this crash sale will help. Just wanted to prepare myself and not feel down if the sales are low those days so I can just get right back up and into the swing of things

The term Crash itself may not have been the best word to use - many people do not know what it is in reference to - others may think it's pretty childish. I think we need older more mature people thinking about verbiage here.

After reading this ad about the Crash sale it is quite clear Ebay is trying to get rid of the sellers of antiques and collectibles. It is all about selling new stuff and cheap stuff with their add saying 79% of Ebay items are new and ___ percent is free shipping and ___ percent buy it now, not auctions. Not one thing about one of a kind items. They clearly do not want to be thought of as an auction site or anything to do with antiques, etc. but they still want to take our money. They will not succeed selling new things as there are too many sites like this and Ebay is now known for scammers and cheap China junk. What a lousy business plan. I think a monkey could run this better!

Hi @bigdeals.etc, we're actually hoping that it'll be a pretty busy day!
I posed the below questions in today's chat and tyler@ebay said he would look into getting some answers. This thread is a good place for Tyler to post updates and keep the discussion going.
Summer can be really slow for smaller sellers and anything we can do to piggyback on the 3 week long promos certainly won't hurt things.
----------
Mid-July brings with it a big summer retail moment. From Amazon’s Prime Day to Target’s Deals Day to eBay’s Crash Day there will be a lot going on.
I read the articles saying that eBay has deals planned on big-ticket items and will be promoting not just those 2 days, but for about 3 weeks.
My question is how will eBay promote the smaller sellers in tandem with the promotion of Deals sellers?
When there are deals on televisions, will eBay include prominent links for accessories like HDMI cables, universal remotes, hot air poppers, blu-rays, etc?
When there are deals on stand mixers, will eBay include prominent links for accessories like kitchen utensils, cake pans, aprons, etc?
When there are deals on large camping gear like tents, will eBay include prominent links for accessories like canteens, hiking boots, lanterns, etc?
If the answer to my above questions is a general “no”, then how exactly will - if at all - eBay promote sales for small sellers along side the mega-Deals sellers?
In addition, what can smaller sellers do on their own to piggy back on the high-end deals happening those three weeks?
Finally, will eBay publish (in advance) a list of items and/or categories they will be featuring so that we can prepare any relevant inventory we have and run our own promotions?

I predict I will spend $0 on July 15 and 16 during prime days at amazon and most likely $0 here also because ebay is already predicting a crash for that day.

Thank you! I couldn't have said it better myself.

I don't think we can blame Ebay for the postal increase - but they did have influence in the e-packet deal which went south for the PO and may be why they raised rates so high. I've always felt that instead of pushing free shipping - Ebay should have followed other venues with flat rate deals obtained for shipping through the PO. Posh for years charged a buyer a flat rate and the buyer's paid it. It wasn't until recently that I've seen the push on other venues for free shipping - which we all know isn't free.
I don't think Ebay wants to get rid of small sellers - but they also aren't doing anything to promote us. Yes we will know a head of time what items they will be promoting in July - but if you're a small seller - I'm worried about how much visibility you'll get next to the bigger guy.
Ebay has had a couple of good ads about this being the place to find everything - but they really haven't promoted the site enough - especially with all the competition. I'm hoping managed payments will open the door to a variety of new buyers who just didn't like Paypal - but at the same time - I'm concerned because of all the glitches and the fact that unless you're invited into the program - no information is being given out or questions answered. I like to know what I'm getting into. I don't like being thrown into situations and then finding out it's not for me. The more information I have the more prepared I am to deal with the good and the bad.

I have to disagree. The older verbiage and way of talking is outdated. Ebay needs the younger generation to use current verbiage that younger people can relate to. You may think it is childish but the younger folks would most likely disagree with you.
