Lost Packages for Using Counterfeit Stamps

I brought a lot of stamps on ebay for their cheap rate at $0.3 instead of $0.55 at post office. I sent a phone using the stamps, now it got stuck for weeks after first scan. Some letters were returned to me but not the package. I believe the stamps are counterfeit because they have some defects. Now the buyer wants a refund. They phone is sold for $230. What should I do?

They item number of the stamps is 294072274428

The fact that you apparently bought and used counterfeit postage is beside the point.  If you do not have a delivery scan for the phone, you will have to refund the buyer.

That aside ...

The feedback you left for the stamps says that ALL the mail sent with the stamps was returned. But on this thread, you just admitted that some of that mail has not been returned. In my eyes you lose a bit of credibility when you leave feedback that is not true.

And 2 different sellers of said stamps ?

The plot thickens - were items returned because of counterfeit or SHORT or out of date postage?

Sellers other thread > Quote

"I brought some forever stamps a while ago and sent letter and packages with them. Some letters and packages were returned or lost. I sent a phone worth $230 and now the package is stuck. No updates on tracking after first scan. The seller sent them from US and had good feedback. What can I do now that I had already used the stamps? I don't have anything left to return, and a valuable package is lost in transit.

Moral of the story is if it's too good then it probably is.

The item number is 294072274428"

I have received stamps like that ( Chipped edge/missing corner) From the Post Office. Are you saying I should refuse them? I have never heard of that before.

If you just used stamps and no tracking, you'll be refunding the buyer for the phone.

Have a great day.

OP wrote that they paid $.3 per stamp, which means that they paid 30 cents per stamp.

I am in the same boat. I got some fakes on eBay too. If you take it to the counter you do get tracking on the receipt even if you are using stamps, but some packages get stuck.

If you search USPS forever on ebay, most of the listing on the first page is fake.

If you did use a counterfeit postage, contact the postal inspector immediately. You are the victim of a fraud not an accomplice.

$0.30. $0.03 doesn't matter. You are not going to get a legit discount of ANY amount like that on US postage

I don’t know about stamps, but I have a lot of $20 bills that I’m willing to sell for $15 each.  They are from China, which seems to make sense, right?

If those are fake stamps and the postal service caught it, your package is in the hands of postal inspectors as part of a criminal case.  You would be far better off if it's lost.  Print out and save all the purchase info as that will help if the men in black come knocking on your door.

I would avoid buying black market postage stamps from now on.

@simba6

Very good advice simba, this is Federal now and could be bad news to OP. I would also take those remaining stamps and copies of the paperwork ( ebay) and turn them into your local postmaster.

Those stamps are still for sale on eBay. Already sold 21 packages of 300.  Got to ask why Shanghai, China is selling US postage stamps. Does look a bit fishy.

...I confirm "yes"...you might get caught eventually when letter was scanned through DPS machine or even by your "picky" mail carrier...

...if you bought your stamps at local Post Office, bring them back with your receipt to exchange for the good ones...some offices may refuse, so be prepared and well insisted that you didn't pay attention until you get home...

...USPS does not have return policies for buying stamps...al sales are final...
