Local pickup

Is there a way to remove the shipping fee for a local pickup or just allow the buyer to pay me cash. He is sure he has done that before but when I called ebay I was told I had to either reimuburse him in cash for the shipping fee or do it through pay pal?

Local pickup

Couldn't you just have made the item Free Shipping in the first place?

For your own protection, have him pay cash.

If he uses Paypal, in theory he could claim Item Not Received, because you have no electronic proof of delivery.

It would be very rare... but.... it does solve both problems.

Then you manually mark the item as Paid.

Free Shipping would not have worked in a pickup.

Free Shipping is NOT free.

It means the cost of shipping is included in the asking price.

Which is cheaper?

A $10 item with $5 shipping or

A $15 item with Free Shipping?

The seller pays Fees on both selling price and shipping price.

Normally both fees are 10%.

With Free Shipping in some cases (like Stores or certain promotions) the selling fee is is slightly lower than the shipping fee, saving the seller money while making the buyer feel like she got a bargain.

Smoke and mirrors.

You can send an invoice for Local Pickup Only, with no other shipping options.

@reallynicestamps  Local pickup only sales are not covered under eBay's MBG, hence a buyer can't win an INR when purchasing from a LPO listing...even if paying through PayPal.  If an INR claim IS opened, the messages between buyer and seller stipulating LPO time and place will disqualify the buyers claim.

How much better life would be, if a liar's pants really did catch fire!

It's not a LPO listing. That's why the OP was asking about refunding shipping, and why I had said to send an invoice for LPO.
