  • OP stated buyer has already paid.
  • Sellers are required to offer a form of electronic payment, and they must accept it if the buyer chooses it.
  • The page I cited in my previous message explains how to mark an item "shipped" to prove "delivery" and avoid an INR.

Re: Local Pickup

Any reason your Buyer cannot drive half-way to meet you or drive the whole way to pick it up?  You're a super nice Seller to drive 40 miles each way to drop off a TV.

Re: Local Pickup

Since local pickup wasn't an option then the buyer can file an item not received claim and you would be forced to refund without tracking proving delivery.

If you want to arrange a pickup (or delivery) then you need to cancel the sale, relist with local pickup, and ask the buyer to repurchase selecting the local pickup 'shipping' option.

All of your listings offer free shipping. I would ship it. Driving an hour and a half round trip and loading/unloading a heavy box from your vehicle probably isn't worth the amount you'd save on shipping with a nice easy carrier pickup.

Whether you drive half way, the whole way, or both decide to take the the buyer and TV to Vegas. Be sure to track your mileage both ways. That is business use mileage.

Re: Local Pickup

That page is ONLY if the selelr chose local pick up as an option on the listing.

The seller did NOT choose that.  The seller needs to ship.

Re: Local Pickup

The best thing to do would be to see if the buyer would be willing to cancel this sale, relist it with local pickup as an option, and have the buyer re-purchase. Your buyer will then have a QR code emailed to them that you can scan when you drop it off which is equivalent to "tracking".

Obviously, I can't promise you that nothing will go wrong, but 99% of the time, you could drop off the item and have absolutely no issue - most buyers are honest. We just hear about the bad ones here when sellers are looking for help and I think it makes it seem like there many more of them.

Re: Local Pickup

Hmm, to me this is tricky. They can make that request, but if you don't have local pickup initially stated, it means that shipping is expected.

However,

You are free to make arrangements with the buyer to do local pickup/dropoff. I think the buyer has to be willing to do something to obtain the TV, but by rights, shipping is required.

In this case, my personal opinion is that you may want to drive the extra distance to drop it off. I only say this, becuase if you dont, and the seller refuses to come, you are left with the option to cancel the transaction and refund the buyer, or take it to them yourself.

Please dont forget that Ebay looks for tracking, so make sure you dont forget that aspect.

Overall, I would suggest cancelling the transaction, then contacting the seller again to negotiate local pickup, so you arent digned anywhere in this process.

Re: Local Pickup

If the buyer is requesting that you drive 80 minutes (edit) round trip,  then what are they offering to reimburse you for gas. expenses, and your time? Nothing? Are you going to the buyers location anyway for other reasons?

Re: Local Pickup

Have you checked to see what it'd cost to simply ship it by UPS, UPS is pretty reasonable with local shipping rates... Plus, if UPS's rate is suitable, then you'll have proof of delivery.

Re: Local Pickup

This seems most correct for this scenario.  If the buyer paid, then the buyer should have paid the invoiced shipping charges.  Ship it.  If the buyer didn't pay the invoiced shipping charges > unpaid item case.  Buyer breached contract is voidable and seller still has item.  There's a decent chance ebay will wipe clean any negative feedback.

A QR code generates when a local pickup listing sells.  Sellers cannot prove accepted as described, and delivered without the scan or code entry.  Strict adherence to the listings stated terms is the only way to proceed in this scenario.
