Hello,
I have a listing for an electric steam kettle (parts only) that a buyer offered 1500 dollars on the best offer tab and won the unit. The buyer requested they set up the shipping, which is no problem with us. I reached out to the buyer because if they were going to arrange their own shipping they shouldn't have to pay the shipping fee in the listing, just doesn't seem right. So after talking to the buyer we decided to cancel the sale and relist with the idea in mind that the buyer would pick the local pick up option after repurchasing. I made sure to put the local pick up option on the listing but the buyer says they still don't see it.
I'm pretty green when it comes to eBay, does anyone have any input on how I can turn on the local pick up and ensure the buyer can check the local pick up as an option? Is it something that I click after they purchase the item? Thanks in advance.

I see local pickup on the slicer. I think maybe the buyer changed their mind and is using the excuse that there is no local pickup as an opportunity to get out of the original sale, now that it has been cancelled.
If you do local pickup, make sure to accept cash only for local pickup. This can be added to your existing payment methods in the listing.
Finally, you need to exclude more countries than those you have listed. All countries other than the US should be excluded.

^Sorry, not sure why I referenced the slicer and not the kettle. The kettle also has local pickup on it as well.

Buyer wanting to arrange their own shipping is a HUGE RED FLAG.

They didn't tell you they were going to send a shipping company and have you pay the "movers", did they? Classic scam if so. Get payment up front via eBay only, or cash in hand, and don't pass on anything to a third party.

Actually, letting the buyer arrange their own shipping can very likely turn into a problem for you. That is different from "local pick up" unless the buyer is arranging for someone to actually show up with the cash, and the QR code procedure is utilized. The local pick up option can not be added after the fact.
Generally, if you ship an item of this price range in the normal fashion (you provide the eBay or other label) , you are going to have to signature confirmation (on line visible by anyone) that the product was delivered to the address eBay provides for you. Without it, you stand to lose the payment made to you (other than cash) and the merchandise.

There is nothing additional you need to do for a buyer to select local pickup on your kettle listing. I see it there under your shipping options. (It makes me a bit wary of the buyer saying they don’t see it.)
I agree with the other posters—accept cash on pickup. That is allowed by eBay’s policy for Local Pickup. And don’t forget, the buyer will need to give you the QR code that eBay will generate and make available to the buyer. Then you input the code on your end to provide proof the item was indeed picked up. (See the policy link below for more information on this process.) That QR code is your seller protection from the buyer opening an Item Not Received claim. Good luck with your transaction.

Would be willing to bet (a) the buyer did not see that Local Pickup part of your listing or (b) did not see the for parts only mention (which you show in just one place).
Don't know anything about restaurant equipment, but is it logical for someone to pay that much for something that doesn't work?

I do now believe that it is a combination of the buyer attempting to scam you paired with their inability to do so now (that you have correctly added Local Pickup) which is dissuading the re-purchase.

This is a SCAM.....Your Local Pick Up option is Visible on the auction..
so the Buyer's Claim is False...Never Contact a Buyer outside of eBay.
and Never allow them to arrange their Own Shipping..
You are asking for trouble...This Buyer is Not real and you need
to End any deal or discussion with him...
