Is there a way to find out an idea of how many people shop on EBay that live in my area? I I searched current listings, there are a couple, could not find any items sold locally in the categorys I will be listing in (Wheels and Tires) However w e are located in an area that is growing fast, I think fastest in the region (Bozeman, MT) there many people moving in from bigger cities that may have used Local Pickup from where they were from. Any ideas on how to find this out? Or should I just start posting…

Sorry, eBay doesn't have any way of determining the number of buyers in a particular area.
Just start listings and be patient, sales don't happen over night.

Not good to bug people. Let them find you.

Have you thought of putting a business listing on Nextdoor, Yelp, or Google? All three have free listings and you can put your link to your ebay store in the profile. I would definitely start with Nextdoor. Those kinds of listings will at least let locals know you are here.
The only way that you will know if they are local, are by their shipping addresses. Ebay, unfortunately, doesn't provide us with analytics like that. The more you list here, the better the exposure tho. Good luck to you.

Look for sellers of your type of stuff in your area. If there is no one that could mean that it's dead. Or it could mean you are first which could be good for you....less competition.
I think Ebay could do so much more business if they promoted Local Pickup more. Who wants to buy something without inspecting it first? Who wants to pack up something and haul it to the PO only to have them smash it during transport? Ebay can still take their fees and we would be fine with it. Local is far more sustainable as well. Plus Ebay could then offer impossible to ship products like a sofa or piano or anything big and not so expensive. We've all bought and sold those items yet we've never done it on Ebay.
The only problem with Local Pickup is some sellers would game the system. They'll pretend the customer wasn't interested, take their cash and quietly end the listing avoiding the fees. But after a while they'd get found out and banned so they'd lose. As would be correct. But the vast majority would be sensible and do what they've agreed to do in our lovely Terms of Service we all bow down to daily. 🙂
Of course Local PIckup would only work well in large urban areas probably. So start there. There's lot of them.
