I can't take credit for the batsignal - it was someone else's idea, but does get the idea/sentiment across. "Batsignal", "send up a signal flare", "call in the cavalry", "call for help", "Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice", or "Klaatu, barada nikto" all work.
I answer on the tech board if I have something useful to say, and on occasion if nobody else has responded, and replying seems warranted.
I mostly ignore rants, posts that include no info to work with ("ebay doesn't work") - others can do the tooth pulling on those, posts about eBay mobile apps (yes those may be tech issues but they belong in the dedicated app forums where eBay is present), and incoherent posts (again, others with more patience can do the triage on those).
As I have said, I have never* seen eBay pop in there unless explicitly called with a tag, or to post a notice about a resolved issue, usually only for major, widespread issues.
*there have been a very few instances I've seen on various boards where an eBay blue piped in spontaneously - I suspect they do read or at least scan many of the boards, but have a hands off policy (except when bored?)
They really need to change the little description blurb that appears at the top right for that board to not say that eBay staff monitors the board, and also to make clear that "my sales are down" is NOT a tech issue, and that the board is not for "I can't get my cordless drill to recharge" technical issues.
