Just listed eBay item 305139382578. It was sold in the time it took to go from listing complete to Selling Summary.

What feat? You listed an item and it sold in seconds. Sounds great to me.
And you have sold quite a few items today. Congratulations!

And totally suspicious. This was purchased within seconds when usually items aren't seen for a while. It was paid for. Immediately after paying, there is a cancel request. I never even got the usual email with the paid order details and shipping address. Buyer FB is private. Makes me think eBay is letting certain people see new listings before everyone else and auto-purchase.

It was probably a robot buyer who constantly scans for certain new items and will buy them instantly if they meet the criteria, then a real person will look at the purchase and they will cancel if it wasn't what they were trying to buy.
Try listing toner too low, it will sell in seconds as well.

So where do you find a robot buyer?

In my experience, if an item is in one of my saved searches, then it can show up on my feed (on the ebay.com main page) very quickly. I bought one item that I have a longstanding saved search for within a couple of minutes, because I happened to be on the ebay.com page at just the right time.
That item was purchased 5 seconds after it was started, and that is quite impressive.

It can happen, I have had items sell within moments after listing. Methinks buyer(s) may have an alert set for a particular item and jump at it as soon as it lists.

Yeah, this must be my one day of decent sales this month. Rolling blackout or throttle will resume tomorrow!

Nice search engine I can't even find the item searching by number. 😁

This: https://www.ebay.com/itm/305139382578
Which isn't something expensive or that sells every day, so why it would be purchased automatically is beyond me.

I had a similar experience today.
The buyer was a repeat buyer who is an Ebay seller.
He is one of the top sellers of this type of item. I always use him as a price umbrella when we compete.
I deliberately create listings which are inferior to his in terms of context of the item. When I have what I know to be a rare piece, I price at a level which leaves him the margin to resell it. He has traffic on his store.
I cannot be a specialist in everything I sell. I try my best to be adequately educated in what I buy.
If he is watching my store, or catching my new listings in any way, I am pleased.

Back when eBay started it took about 4 hours for a new listing to show in the search. That gave the seller plenty of time to check it for errors. Many sellers were unhappy over such a long delay however. I always found it handy to proof read the listing again to be sure.
However, eBay did away with the delay and one day I listed and as soon as I clicked to upload it it was sold. On errors on it but I was not expecting that. So if it lets listed the same time a buyer is searching for that item, it can sell quick.

You can look for something on eBay, but, if it is not found, you can check that you want to be notified if/when one is listed. Have had a specific sewing machine on that kind of a list for probably years.

Or, as I mentioned, sometimes a buyer has been looking for that same item for awhile and is notified when the listing comes up.

you beat one of my records. Listed it and it sold in less than ten minutes. I packed and shipped it in less than half an hour due to the post office being a 5 minute drive from my house.
