Listing removed

I had a listing rejected because it was said to be offensive. I've read and re-read. Can someone tell me what is offensive about this ad?

This piece is  not about picking cotton, has big red lips and bugged eyes, there's no slur or other things that would be offensive, yet still allowed.

This is a RARE set. I have a Black American Girl holding her Teddy Bear Cookie Jar, This set includes  S&P Shakers shaped as a dog and a cat.

I'll take a stab and say this cookie jar shaker set represents a Black American girl dressed in a Red dress and a White/ Green tunic. She has Red ribbons in her hair, and Black shoes. She is holding her little bear.

The shakers are shaped as her pet pals. The Yellow/White with stripes cat has a Blue collar with a large Red heart. The dog is a med Brown color with Black ears and face. He is wearing a Blue collar with White dots. Imprint on bottom reads: BHP © N•Y•

This piece has been it storage, but has never been used or displayed.  This would be great on display or at the family dinner table.

She is so lovely, you just wants hug her!

First time this has been opened, didn't know that shakers were included!

Re: Listing removed

You may want to take a peek at this policy..Offensive materials policy | eBay

Someone thought your listing was offensive, reported it and ebay pulled it. Best not to list it again.

Re: Listing removed

You think my describing this as a young girl as oppose to a  Black American girl would have caused the problem?

What if someone was looking for a Black American cookie jar, wouldn't my description aided their search?

Re: Listing removed

I read the policy.  My guess was that it was not the piece nor the copy that was offensive, but someone's sensibility.

If my cutie holding a bear bothered them, I hope they don't see the postcards of cotton pickers and other items listed on the site.

Re: Listing removed

If eBay pulled the listing, don't relist it. Period. Tweaking the title won't help. Find another venue that allows that kind of item to be listed.

There's really no point in arguing whether eBay's decision is correct, or whether the item should be allowed to be listed, or any other aspect of whether the policy should apply to your item. eBay is the final arbiter of whata can be listed and what can't. Just take it elsewhere.

@ms.cherri

Would this caveat apply to the listing? Your... "big red lips and bugged eyes..." made me wonder. Hmmm... 🤔

  • Items with racist, anti-Semitic, or otherwise demeaning portrayals, for example through caricatures or other exaggerated features, including figurines, cartoons, housewares, historical advertisements, and golliwogs

@ms.cherri

If it resembled a gollywogg it would be considered offensive.

Re: Listing removed

The piece won't be relisted. I just wish I knew from the person who reported the ad, what it was that offended them. Oh well, moving on.

Thanks all!

Re: Listing removed

None of us can see the item, nor do we need/want to. No one can even tell you whether it was reported--that was merely unfounded and, IMO, irresponsible speculation on the part of another discussion participant. There's no way to prove that's what happened, so, again, just move on.
