I have been on Ebay for 21 years with 100% rating. Total buy and sell in the amount of 100k. With my family we have 7 accounts with buy and sell totaling 2 million dollars. The customer service has turned into total crap. The agents can hardly speak English and can't even determine the different time zones in the US. And what is the 48 hour wait before a listing goes live? I list camera and lens and the wait was 24 hours last week and now they say it changed to 48 hours. Due to their total disregard for good customers, we have decided to close all accounts. We will not accept bad treatment from your company. Years back Ebay was a good company that cared about their customers. Not now. They don't care if you are using their site or not. It is very obvious that the decline of customers will continue and their stock will continue to drop.

The customer service group is a contract group, supposedly in Utah. They really can't answer many questions and have no power to make changes.
If you need to contact eBay, try the Facebook group. They are actual employees that can help.

In regard to the 48 hour wait. Who told you that? Was it the over-qualified customer service people?

You can try to close your account but technically Ebay will NOT officially close it for 6 months after your last sale. They want to make sure that a buyer doesn't want to return an item. I haven't listed in a 5 days under my other 2 IDs but all items immediately started when I programmed them. I don't actually search to see if they are live. I am relying on the ebay email stating that my listing has started. Goodluck.

Yes, customer service. It has been 19 hours since item was listed. Still not active.

I shouldn't have to contact someone on Facebook. What is customer service for?

Calling CS was your first mistake, as you should have known. It got you off the phone though, right?

Customer Service for all companies come in various methods, phone, chat, email, etc.
Social media has been added to keep up with the times. FB and Twitter are just 2 more methods of eBay CS.
Contact eBay via their social media sites with a private message:
AND-OR
Great customer service on both

eBay support told you how long the wait time is for your category? You must be getting top tier support.
eBay support tells me I need to wait up to 48 hours because eBay indexing time varies (Yes, I know eBay intentionally takes longer with some categories and it's not because of indexing time. Kind of like the static electricity excuse in the old days).
You are speaking to other eBay sellers. eBay isn't listening. We can all empathize with the lack of eBay support. On the other hand, eBay sellers/users are always here to lend a helping hand...

Likewise; I list 5-day auctions all the time, some of which will get bids within minutes, so I know they're visible. For example, my current auction 234699371452 got its first bid less than 25 minutes after going live.
@nrsev: what exactly was the problem that caused you to call CS originally? While you can set up a listing to wait 24-48 hours before going live if desired (you can schedule up to two weeks in advance), the default setting is to list immediately. I have never heard of a 24-48 hour wait for anything.

I called because the listing scheduled was not active. I listed an item yesterday to start at 9pm cst. It is still not active. I called and was told it would take 48 hours to be live. I also called last week because the listings were taking 24 hours or longer to go live. It has been a while since I sold anything and was surprised it was taking so long. I never had anything take that long to go live. I was told today the listings that were taking 24 hours will now take 48 hours.

EBay tells us that it may take up to 24 hours for a listing to "index" . This has been true for decades.
This is also why eBay discourages short run Auctions. Even charging a higher fee for one day and three day auctions.
New, occasional, and returning sellers may find it takes every second. Sellers of high value/high fraud items, like cameras and camera parts, will meet the same delay. You seem to have made fewer than ten sales in the past six months.
You may also find you have a Hold of up to 30 days on your customer's cleared payment for many of the same reasons.
EBay employees cover social media accounts. They are well trained and have some authority.
And you get a transcript of the Chat for review.

Sorry you are so upset you are going to close 7 accounts and stop selling 2 million worth of merchandise all because you have to wait up to 48 hours. Hopefully you can find another place that lists your items immediately. Good luck.

First off in categories that are oversaturated it has taken up to 24 hours for years now even though most categories go live within an hour. Also, it has only been 19 so why are you calling already.

Been awhile since you sold anything? I thought you had 7 accounts that buy and sell in the millions.

The issue with Ebay CS id that they are third party and VERY poorly trained......thus often times when they dont have the answer they simply make something up to get you off of the phone. Thus the seller has to repeatedly call in over and over and over to get issues resolved.
I can tell you that ebay certainly views their "customers"(sellers) as less than valuable........instead of fixing know issues and listening to their customers....they throw third party support people in front of them.
Here is an example.......I am a seller with a high SNAD rate (through no fault of my own)........I am top rated and have 5 star detailed seller ratings....... the term corporate uses for me as a seller of 23 years is "outlier"
Any sellers that does not completely conform to their somewhat broken system is "outlier"
