OK, let me start here, by telling you first, that AD FEES are now 2% minimum. This is the first "double" ROBBING applied lately!
Second one is when they convert the USD to EUR.
Now details: Your ORDER conversion is from USD to EUR rate, but your AD FEE is EUR to USD rate! The difference is USD to EUR is 0.90 at the moment, but EUR to USD is 1.03. This is UNeven! And what we have. Your AD FEE is calculated to be MORE EUR, by applying the LESS rate (EUR to USD, but your ORDER FEE is calculated at the MORE expensive rate (USD to EUR). SOOO, it`s a DOUBLE ROBBING!!! Why is that, let EBAY explain to all of us. Everyone here ask personaly EBAY why is robbing us a double. Also, conversion rate from USD to EUR is NOT the market one!

You never told us there was going to be math on this quiz.

Are those "ad fees" mandatory or voluntary?

You win the award for best post of the day. Haha
@dj-doggy I’m not familiar with selling in foreign currencies. Did eBay ever state they would always do market conversion rates? Personally I know some financial institutions don’t and there’s a premium.

Nevermind, if it`s mandatory or volunteerORY. The rates must be ONE FOR ALL. Not like that. And it`s not to the "market or not". Did you guys understand what i wrote? If not, then it`s not my problem. The question is why they not convert AD FEES from USD to EUR again, but the opposite! I know the answer...

The term "ad fees" is a new one to me. Are you referring to the fee to promote your listings? Or something else?

Sorry, I was only addressing part 1 of your complaint, the 2% minimum "ad fee".
I guess you have a legitimate complaint if you want to go 1% and not a ridiculous 2%.

Are we allowed to use our calculators on this one?

Pretty sure they are talking about promoted listings rates as eBay recently imposed a 2% minimum on that.

Yes, the promote listings fee. It`s other name is AD FEE. And it`s calculated by converting EUR to USD (1.03), which makes MORE EURO at the end. If they calculate it as other fees USD to EUR(0.90), it will make LESS EURO. Now is understandable?
02-09-2023 03:35 AM
In other words if 1 EURO is 1.03 USD, then 1USD must NOT be 0.90 EURO, but 0.97
OR.... if 1USD is 0.90 EURO, then 1 EURO must be 1.10USD.
Simple as that. OK, they take 1.08(now) as market rate.
Because EUR to USD is 0.93(they make it 0.90).
Then 1Euro must be 1.05 USD from their logic.But it`s 1.03
So at the one way they take 0.03 as comission, but on the other way, they take 0.05 for comission. No logic at all.

If it's the promoted standard fee that is bothering you then stop using it...simple fix.
Also if your bank is in Bulgaria, your registered location, then there will be a currency conversion. You are charged a fee for the conversion.
If eBay converts your funds, the conversion will be completed at the transaction exchange rate we set for the relevant currency exchange. eBay's transaction exchange rate is composed of a base exchange rate plus a conversion charge. The conversion charge is a fixed percentage applied to the base exchange rate and retained by eBay. The base exchange rate reflects rates within the wholesale currency markets applicable to the currency pairing on the day of the conversion, or the prior business day. If exchange rates are set by law or regulation, the base exchange rate reflects the government reference rates.

Ad fees are optional and eBay tells you what the minimum is.
How is it "robbery" when you freely choose to use an optional feature and you are informed of the cost up front?

My ad fees/ promoted listing fees are 0%. Always have been, always will be.
