Leaving eBay

I see so many people leaving eBay- and I understand why, eBay is updating themselves out of business but what other platform is working for you? I can’t afford to give time and money to resale for nothing. I have a number of listings and not even one look!

Re: Leaving eBay

Christmas credit card bills are still being managed buy all buyers and 1st quarter is always a downer for most folks because of it.. You look like you do pretty good so chill for a bit..

IMO, other major sites are difficult to navigate as a buyer let alone as a seller.. They have slower shipping and almost zero communication (in the areas I collect or purchase in anyway) and less info/tutorials for new users of their platforms (and in my many irritations here I've looked)!

Good Luck but I think it will pass quickly!

Re: Leaving eBay

I don't know your market but 22 sales for January doesn't look so bad. Maybe try some self-promoting on your social media sites, or promoted listings? Of course you can try other sites too. Facebook marketplace looks like a great place to sell your type of items. Just keep at it.

Re: Leaving eBay

Mercari has been my best-selling platform, after eBay. Still doesn't compete with eBay numbers though.

Re: Leaving eBay

You need to PROMOTE YOUR LISTINGS if you want the traffic and views you used to get. Not at 2%, but at 10%-14%. Yes, so that your fees will be 25%+. Raise your prices and PROMOTE!

Re: Leaving eBay

Seems  like you have sold 22  items so far in Jan 2023. some 3  digit items.  Not record setting but not hateful.

Remember one thing folks damaged  their cc's in the previous months - now  it is time to pony up or incur  that dreaded interest charge or they are spend $ on clearance sales to make room for the spring stuff.

When I sold on eBay paid little attention to  listing views and watchers.

Monthly sales  activity is very seldom on a smooth forever increase  upward line. it is more like the movement of a yo-yo w/ lots of ups & down.  Had a selling career for over 41 years.  Things slow down I had to get  create and change what I was doing - just maybe what I sold tons of yesterday ain't so popular any more.  Just stuff to think about - people or companies don't stop  spending - it is just they might  spend it on different stuff than you have.

Re: Leaving eBay

Two suggestions for your existing listings.

1. All but 1  of your 103  listing are auction style.  Try going to fixed  price.  Auctions are going the way of the do-do bird.  People want their stuff now and not wait to  buy or they might not  win the bidding "war".  Auctions for rare and sought after stuff might be a benefit-  like a Babe Ruth rookie baseball card in mint condition.

2.  Your "no refunds policy" is a turn off and 100% meaningless should a buyer open a "not as described" case. eBays Money Back Guarantee" has  the buyers back for at least 30 days and the buyers  cc (like PayPal) has their back for up to 180 days..  Suggest you offer a 30 day return with the buyer pays shipping if the reason is remorse - like wrong size/doesn't fit, don't like the color etc.  Other sites like Amazon is fairly liberal in their return policy.

Re: Leaving eBay

Groceries prices are up, gas prices are going up, shipping prices are going up every year, fees, tax hikes, interest rates are up.  There was lack of work, but there is work now. Competition with big corporations. They say the economy is doing great.  Yeah, I don't know what the problem is?

Re: Leaving eBay

I absolutely agree. Roughly 85% of eBay sales nowadays are Buy-It-Now. In the early days, auctions were a blast! But people no longer want to wait a week or more just to find out if they could even buy the item they wanted. They want to buy it immediately and have it delivered by tomorrow. If they have a choice between an auction and a BIN, they'll grab the BIN every time and be done with it. Only OOAKs have any chance at all in auctions, and people will still try to find alternatives.

Ecom is constantly evolving and sellers have to evolve with it. Yesterday's ways just no longer work well. Find your new path.

Everything we've been taught in life is wrong. New path I think is a very good answer.

You may have given up some of you time but should not have given up even a penny of your cash. It is free to list on Ebay. Good luck but I have a feeling you will be back and willing to give up more of your time. Why are you doing all those auctions? NOTHING you have listed at auction is worthy of even auctioning off. Change your listings to BIN.

I have learned something in life nothing in life is for free. Especially Ebay. Thank you for your opinion, and your business, and your free time.
