Late Again! Stop giving bad info to my buyers

Once again a customer has been informed by ebay of an unrealistic date for arrival of their item. Economy, parcel select, extra large package....and ebay tells my buyer 5 days? So naturally the buyer sees it as late because ebay shows it as late to them (not us since we shipped in under 24 hrs once again). Buyer blames it on holiday weekend, when actually ebay is to blame. Holiday or not, unless that was within a few states chances were slim it could reach in 5 days and it was not close in proximity to our state.

WHY WHY WHY stop misinforming buyers you do not help your own business or mine in the long run. Initially getting a quick shipping date may appeal and a buyer will buy, however, when they end up disappointed because calculations are off more than accurate.....will they repeat business with me? with ebay?? Not if ebay keeps interfering with wrong/exagerated Info. trying to look good.

This is becoming a weekly problem and my handling time is spot on, usually it gets caught up at the sort centers and near the delivery area, so I know its not even my USPS area. Mail in general has slowed this year, ebay est dates should as well- nevermind seller should inform buyer they are estimates, stop giving unrealistic expectations of something you are not in charge of DUH!

That is quite frustrating! Smiley Sad

However, as both a buyer and seller, in my personal experience I must say as a buyer at least I really cannot remember the last time I received an item that was past the estimated delivery date. There was only one I didn't receive at all because it didn't have tracking and must have been one of those 1 in 1,000+ or whatever the stats are that genuinely gets lost, and the seller refunded me without any issue (it was only a $6 purchase).

Oh and just out of curiosity OP, have you considered the Guaranteed Delivery program? I am not sure if I want to opt into that or not yet, but of course as with anything I've heard mixed reviews on it from others.

That is ebay's mistake. Plus, it was the Memorial day weekend. Did the buyer expect his package to arrive on Monday?

>>Increase your handling time

That won't help if eBay ignores it and uses their own metrics based on seller's past performance (as they do for me).

There have been a couple of threads in the recent past about eBay messing up EDDs for Parcel Select - as if they are using a seller's Priority/FCM delivery averages to compute them.

^^ This.

This is also why I've been shipping at the end of my 3 day window so that their fake ETA dates are further out.

I have a guaranteed delivery that is late. It was suposed to be delivered yesterday, but just hit the postal stream yesterday.

Normally I would not care, but if you're gonna hype something, you better deliver. I will be submitting my claim for a refund of the shipping.

The only way you are going to get out of this is to either extend your handling time to 4 or more days OR what I did:  call eBay and request to be removed from "Fast N Free".  Doing so will get rid of the unrealistic delivery date and shows buyers a realistic delivery window instead.

Ebay does warn that doing so could reduce sales, but in my case, they haven't declined drastically.  What has declined is the number of messages from impatient buyers!

Its not possible to be removed from "fast n free". Fast n free is just a logo put on qualifying listings. If ebay estimates your item will be delivered to the buyer within 4 business days, your listing has the logo. Only way to get rid of it is to increase your handling & use a slower shipping method. Its not something you opt into. Increasing your handling, as already noted, won't work when ebay is disregarding it in the first place.

Actually, it is possible to opt out, but a seller has to call customer service to make the request.

See post #51 from Trinton:  https://community.ebay.com/t5/Shipping-Returns/Can-eBay-force-a-refund-for-2-days-later-than-estimat...

I followed his advice,  so now, even if I select 1 day handling,  Fast and Free does not appear on my listings.

You mean you pay $119 a year for that "free" shipping. Right.

Its like people on these board  that talk about the "free " listings they get from having a store, they are not free, they are pre paid!!
