I currently have 245 active BIN listings. Yesterday I closed my store and today I was prevented from making a new BIN listing. Why is that? I thought I was allowed 250 free listings without a store. eh?

The 250 free insertion fee listings include new and automatic relisted items. If you have buy it now items, they renew every 30 days and count towards your allotment of 250. If you have listing with more than one quantity each item in that listing counts as well.

You are allowed to create 250 listing per month without a store.
You are not allowed 250 active listings. You cannot replace listings which were listed and sold this month without paying for additional listings.
If you are not being allowed to pay for and create new listings, that is a different problem.
You will need to provide more information as to what message you are seeing,

Did you get a message saying that you had reached your listing limit? That doesn't have anything to do with the amount of free listings you get per month. When you reach your free listings for that month you can still list more but you have to pay any insertion fee.
A listing limit message would be referring to how many listings you are allowed to list each month regardless whether or not you have a store. Every seller has listing limits which increase over time. You should be able to see yours on your sellers hub overview page. With listing limits each variation counts as one listing so your card listings or any other listings with variations will count as more than one listing.

Just to clarify..when it comes to free insertions, variation listings do count as one listing. When it comes to listing limits, each variations counts as one listing.

As the other posters have pointed out. Listing limits is different than free insertion fee listings.
Listing limits are on the number of items you can sell along with the dollar amount you are allowed each month.
This limit includes live listings, item you sold and listings with multiple items in a 30 day period.

Here's the Help page about listing limits, which shows your specific thresholds and what you have used this month:

In two days, you will get more free listings.

Are you saying you can't make a new listing at all or you can't make it without being charged an insertion fee?

I am not allowed to list another item as my listing dollar amount has been reached for the month (08-21-24). I am wondering if my current active listings (98) will be charged again next month if I do nothing. I apologize for not understanding the system. I plan to cancel my store by the end of this month since I am limited to list many items now to save my $21.95 monthly fee. Regards

They will be "charged" against your free listings, but since you're not over the limit on free listings, that should be all. You get 250 free listings normally, even without the store, so if you cancel that you will still have those available to you so you don't get charged per listing.

I am very slow to comprehend. I eventually will advise once I understand my position.
