Just need to rant

Before actually making a business out of selling items on ebay, i would sell little things here and there- over the last 10 years... and I truly have no idea whats in the water this past year but it seems like the amount of :

-INR complaints (when tracking shows delivered)

-Neg feedbacks that make litterally no sense or are completely insane

-oblivious buyers not reading listing descriptions and then complaining

-buyers not understanding how SHIPPING ITSELF WORKS

and so many other things... is so effing draining that i think im gonna go on vacation for three weeks and allow sales the entire time. Like what the hell is going on? Every day its a new funds on hold request that makes absolutely no sense that I just have to wait out or entertain for 5 days till it can be closed.. Like if i have to explain one more time that I do not in fact personally deliver orders all over the globe .... im going to lose it.

Welcome to not so exclusive sellers club of  frustration and pain.

By nature I am not a pessimist but sadly I do not see a solution to this problem and is just a sign of times.

Quite right that every one has and must have an equal voice, however I find some are voice of logic and reason and sadly others just bray.

Thank goodness that at present those braying are still just about a minority.

I assume you mean you will not allow sales the entire time (that you're away)...

I have to admit that when I went to your feedback page to see what you were complaining about, I was expecting the worst in terms of a seller meltdown, but in fact I have to give you credit for some pretty restrained and factual feedback replies.

I might disagree a bit on your defense of using only brown paper for padding a package in order to preserve resounces (which the buyer says resulted in a damaged item), as there's plenty of clean used packaging (e.g. bubblewrap) in this world to reuse. I reuse it all the time and cannot remember when the last time was that I purchased any new.

Aside from that, it does look like you just had a bad run of numpty buyers; I wouldn't hesitate to buy something of yours. However, your current feedback percentage of 94.something% needs to get raised. Are there other things you can branch out into that will yield some more successful sales?

At least 3 times a day (not exaggerating) I get the question, "Is this for the item in the picture?". I created keyboard shortcuts, but you can also just make a list of draft responses for dumb questions, redundant messages, INR's, etc.

That's just part of selling on eBay - the more you sell, the worse it gets. Mo money, mo problems.

I have not received that many distraught situations that you find your self, but, I do admit that from time to time is best to step back and take a self diagnose time off. Heck on this community board I do it a lot. There's a lot of duplicate problems that appear here about:

I found this car on FB and seller ask me to pay with giftcard

I have not received my item

Managed payment is bad

Bring back PayPal.

After awhile you have to to step back and let things play out.

old electronics: you just asking for trouble from the feedback you have received.

The fake pen: well it is your job to make sure such is not...

Might want to read this also:

Suspect your troubles are ongoing. Better written descriptions of the item may or may not help...

Welcome to dealing with Millennials !

They are spoiled and raised to stay that way.

They are narcissistic, the second they are unhappy about something they have to burn someone else for it.

They don't give feedback, but enjoy watching THEIR feedback score go up.

They want every perk and convenience, yet never think of doing for others.

They buy items by the pictures, too much trouble to read the description.

They don't know anything about shipping because they are not givers, only receivers.

They are most of our customer base these days and more times than not are troublesome in some way.

I will take their money once, but when I discover that they don't leave feedback as a rule they go on my BBL.

Wow I thought I was hard on potential purchasers:

No feedback go to BBL... That is a bit much in my opinion...

Totally understand the 'STEP back for awhile approach"... I have had clothing returns (3) because of not fitting, and I take ALL measurements and several other complaints this month.   I have never had this many problems in 20 years.  I just figured the "moon" was causing it but I took off several weeks and just did relisting.   Maybe Oct. will be better.  LOLOL

You are certainly entitled to your opinion.......but you make it sound like a buyer doesn't leave me feedback I block them. Not the case.

If they have a moderate feedback score and their "Feedback Left for Others" is blank, I block them.

I also release my entire BBL after Christmas every year. 25% of them will have become "Unregistered User", the rest get another chance to do it right. If they still aren't and they come my way again, they'll end up on my list again for the rest of the year.

Are you sure you checked feedback for the correct member? I'm sure not seeing the same responses to the negative feedback you are:  accusatory, belligerent, argumentative, highly emotional [read: angry], unprofessional, misspellings throughout. Speaking strictly for myself, I would never buy from a seller who had responded to negative feedback that way.

@505bargainbin

First - totally support the idea of taking some time away from the e-Bay Circus.

Second - you have quite a few FB that state your items are not authentic.  That has to be concerning to e-Bay.  Just because the Buyer does not "return" the item, does not mean what they allege is not factual.

Third - You do not accept returns.  I would encourage you to change your stance on this and do 30 day returns, Buyer pays.  It most certainly should alleviate some of the Buyer issues you have been having.

Fourth - You need better descriptions and much better pictures.  Stop relying on the description that comes with the UPC - if your item is NEW/Sealed, you can and should include it.  If it is NOT, you should not be using it at all.  On your Jurassic World Lego set, you state it is Used and include the Lego manufacturer description for the set.  You need to be focused on what "YOUR SET" includes, does not include, etc.

You can keep doing what you are doing and keep having these Buyer issues, but your feedback is a mess.  And your responses make it worse.

Go back as you take a break and look at the common themes to the transactions you have had an issue with in the past 6 months.  You have 6 negs and 3 neutrals with 39 Positives.  23% of your FB transactions have apparently had an issue.  It seems high, almost 1 in 4 orders goes awry for you on some level.

Good luck on whatever you decide.  Online selling is not for everyone.

I give my BBL members the chance to come back and give me money. If they are still wonky eBay members, back on the list they go.

I actually have several repeat BBL customers. I don't cut them off permanently from being profitable for me.

I even have several ID's for the same members in my BBL, because they think that if they come back to me with their ID changed by 1 character I won't know it's them. That in itself is grounds for my BBL.

I had a female member who used her first and last name with some numbers for her ID. The third ID she came at me with had a different last name with the same first name and numbers. I messaged her congratulations on the marriage.....of course she didn't reply.

Huh - that's pretty funny to read because I recall hearing the same complaints about MY generation - 'all give and no get!'  'Spoiled!' 'In MY day we were respectful!' etc. etc. - I was born in the 1950s. 😅

Sorry, but no; I'm finding that the OP is pretty factual for the most part, and gives a much clearer account of whatever the problem was than what the buyer's feedback indicates. I'm also not really concerned with the quality of their grammar or punctuation as long as they can clearly convey their point. (In fact, while the OP has some issues with commas and apostrophes, there were very few misspellings.)

As I said before, I don't think the OP's problems are all the fault of the buyers, but I would say that the majority were aggravated by buyers who either didn't read the listing or did not want to return the items, despite return offers being made.
