Its still around several of the posters here are mentors, but this isn't to good a spot to mentor most folks coming here are popping a cork over getting clipped and being mentored just isn't in the cards....

Pretty sure eBay got rid of that program if it’s the one I’m thinking of.
Editing to add—Maybe I’m thinking of trading assistants or education specialists? Both are a thing of the past.
The community expert program has been renamed the community mentor program but it is not the same as the original mentor program and some of those “mentors” have never sold here, some have only ever been buyers. So they can’t really mentor sellers right?

Not that it would stop them trying LOL (just look at some of the non sellers on this board that love to tell sellers what they're doing wrong).
LOL good point!
Just adding in, I don’t think the community mentors are the seller mentors from the program eBay announced in 2015, that’s why I pointed out that some them have never sold here! It wasn’t a jab at anymore but it reads that way!

The idea didn't really take off as well as they expected.
Post #259 on the thread is when they decided to pull the plug.

Now they have a Mentor Program as posted by others but these are the Community Mentors who answer posts.
So they still got to use the name only the program was changed

Thank you so much for providing that history. I had been racking my brain for the details. The thread started on December 2, 2015 and post #259 putting the concept on indefinite hold was on December 11. So the program concept never even got off the ground.

Please forgive me for being obtuse but I am not understanding the question? I mean, I don't know what I said that made it sound like I was referring to posting accounts? I wasn't referring to them but now that you mention it, IIRC posting IDs have been community mentors but I think Alan has a rule about that now, no posting IDs IIRC.

Yes, I remember someone (Alan or otherwise) stating that that was one of the rules.
The comments above sounded like they were heading toward the kind of complaints we see from someone who looked up a poster's feedback and noticed that it was all purchases and no sales, followed by a triumphant Ah-Ha! moment from them when they believe that they're on to something, but neither of you are novices here, so I was a little puzzled as to why the conversation seemed to be going in that direction. No worries...

Oh ok thanks for clarifying! Maybe I misunderstood myjunque but I thought she was referring to the buyers who admit they are only buyers but advise sellers and tell them what they are doing wrong. I wasn’t thinking about posting IDs, I know there are quite a few posting IDs that really are sellers under other IDs 🙂
