What has happened to Ebay? I am noticing they have automated emails that lead to NO HELP WHATSOEVER!?
I have a case open with a seller because the item was never received.
Ebay has just now messaged me saying I can now escalate it by clicking on case details
When I do so I have 2 options:
Send a message to the seller
or
Close this request
NO escalate the case to Ebay option anywhere!?! So what now!?
Get with it Ebay!!!!

You have to send a message to the seller saying you have not received the item. The seller will be given time to solve the issue. If he fails to respond or solve the issue, the case will be likely closed in your favor.

Because you carelessly gambled @venusianseona on a not-from-around-here seller who carefully engineered their eBay listing with a latest estimated delivery date just a scooch beyond 2 months of your purchase date, now eBay cannot step in to neither help nor hurt you, despite bald-faced lying to you with that email message.
Instead, you'll have to open an Item Not Receive dispute at PayPal to get your refund:
Be sure to immediately escalate your dispute to a claim, which will shorten your wait.

OP is asking about escalating the case he has already opened as it is time to do so.

Is the tracking on the package showing delivered? If it does, that would be why you have the two options that appear.
If the tracking shows delivered, you can't escalate the claim.

He has escalated the case. Recently I ordered something from a company and it was not delivered. I escalated the case and my option was to send the seller a message. I did and the issue was settled when the seller sent me a new item to replace the one tracking showed was stuck somewhere. Escalation does not mean an immediate ruling.
Ebay still insists that you try to settle it with the seller. Your message will be sent to the seller and how they handle it decides how eBay will rule on the case. My point to the OP is sending a message to the seller is part of the escalation.

On the fourth day after you opened the case you will see the option to ask eBay to step in.
