Item Specifics

So................

On all these category changes today - when you go to what used to be Dolls & Bears and then there were many, many choices for a category and now there is just 1.  (Like Curly in the movie - "1")

ALL of the item specifics that I spent days and hours refining - they are ALL gone.  Nothing there - poof, see ya, nada, GOODBYE............

Are they putting these BACK into the listings and today is JUST a transition or am I about to have to re-new my Friendship with Mr Belvedere???  And in the meantime, search is just "search" with no refinements and no way probably anyone will find these Holiday Barbies I worked to be politically correct on?

I went thru this on Seasonal and had to pull hundreds of items to hold them in my hands and re-enter the data that was there before.  I will NOT be doing that again.  The dolls will all go to FBA.  I always wondered what would push me over the ledge - I think this will be it if my item specifics do not return.

I am some kinda pezzled.  E-Bay could have TOLD us they were removing the item specifics and been much more specific about this - I would have ended listings and worked to put them back up, with my data intact, had I known (or any of us known for that matter).

Had a good cry out on the patio a few hours back.  I went to the warehouse and boxed up 11 huge boxes to drop tomorrow at UPS to send to FBA from all areas of what we sell.  I do not have time to monkey around with this - I have bills to pay and a business to run and expenses and a DESIRE to succeed at this.   Took me over 3 hours tonight to get everything together and ready for FBA.  I need to make money this Holiday season - I don't have a 7-figure salary at e-Bay to fall back on.   Will work on additional boxes to ship out on Thursday.  

Whoever made the decision to do all this, and again after ALL the debacles from the earlier category transitions this Spring - then to do it right at the holidays ~ needs to be fired.

Every time they make an "improvement", it's never for the better.   And they launch it with a bunch of errors, and then tweak it as they go along, but it's never better than or even as good as what it was before.

Tonight I went online to check my auctions. I was in shock to see a  bracelet in the earring category and earrings in the pendant category. I understand 'change' but I'm a little confused as to why you would put earrings in the pendant category.  Also, I tried to 'add information' about a bracelet I am offering, the auction had some bids, BUT...I was not allowed to add the new info at the bottom of the auction, so revisions (adding some information at the bottom of the auction) is no longer allowed ? Other listings of mine were in categories that had nothing to do with what the item actually is. I'm sure this is not going to help sales....

This is useless to me unless I can search in a category. Also need to see SOLD items. What disappointment. WHY ruin something that worked?????

One wonders how many 1000s of would-be buyers just gave up trying to find anything in the last day or so and won't be back?  

If eBay knows what this process is doing, why not get it done overnight so we don't lose a couple days of decent sales? 

And what the hell is a non-topographical postcard--one without lumps?   I hope so, cuz who wants lumpy postcards anyway?

This is a week and month of observation @katzrul15 ... ironically I started my Fall 30 Day Promoted Listing Campaign on October 10th ... weekends are typically the high selling times for my categories and my Auctions for the most part end on weekends.  So that's why this one traffic report for Impressions looks like waves rolling in to shore at the beach ... if all the fears of the recent changes are true then over time the peaks and valleys will flatten out and decline ... while that may be great to reduce beach erosion it does nothing for sales ...

I think @paulhua3 you have touched on a really, really good point here.  The thread below has some interesting viewpoints from BUYERS ... it's one thing to make changes that impact Sellers but its another to impact Buyers ... that's a real taboo ... its one thing to try to manage and control sellers but you can't do that with Buyers ... they have nothing to lose by simply going elsewhere ... time will tell

Hey @katzrul15! You should be seeing item specifics come back, and most so by tomorrow. Please keep in mind that it can take up to a week for everything to complete processing though.

Today, I saw notices about listing that need specifics update. I was surprised because I always mark all specifics. Anyway, when I checked  I saw a nightmare... a long list of specifics either repetitive or irrelevant. I thought, this is it, that's the end for me on eBay.

EBay destroyed all my hard work and now eBay wants me to replace it with ridiculous specifics.... on over 1700 postcards!!! 

I guess you can understand how upsetting and serious this situation is. So, thank you again and hoping for the best!

Hey @vivabe! Don't do too much yet. A change on this level requires updates to millions of servers and data changes to nearly every aspect of our product. This level of an adjustment takes time, so we appreciate your patience while this process runs it's course. We expect data to be set and completed within a week (by 10.19). Then you can go from there with adjusting item specifics if necessary.

All I've done is try to find something on ebay.  It is impossible, so why would I sell on this platform?  Maybe I'll find cup and saucers if I look under teddy-bears.

You have a point.  I'm not listing anything until item specifics is back the way it was.  I'm not willing to waste my time and effort trying to sell something no one can find.
