Hi
Today i was notified by a seller that they did not get their item, however it says it was delivered but not to their city. Looking at the shipping label i noticed the buyer did not put in a proper street name, just the city, state, zip and their po box in the street name.
I paid full insurance for it, but not sure what to do next. I asked the buyer to wait a few days.

So do you think it did or didn't go to the PO box?

According to the buyer, they didn't recieve it, but i sent it to the address that ebay and paypal have on record.

You might check with the post office to see if there is an active 'Mail Forwarding' address on file.

FWIW, I would get the location & phone # where it was delivered. Call the postmaster and point out the zip code error and ask him to re-route it.

And you confirmed with the buyer that the above is his/her address? Did you review the label before mailing the package to make sure it matched the above?
These sound like such stupid questions, but I've never run across a misdelivery with this twist. @gracieallen01 suggesting a forwarding address was a good idea. What about a package intercept?
Items get delivered by USPS incorrectly all the time, but it seems odd no one along the line would have noticed just how wrong this one was.
Gees. Weird.

For reasons of security and confidentiality, I'd be very surprised if USPS would give someone that information. As far as rerouting it, it's already been delivered to the San Francisco address. I'm not sure how the postmaster would handle that?

I did confirm with the buyer and they said this is the address they have used in the past and never had any issues. I tried filling a claim with USPS but they won’t allow for a few more days. As for the exact location I’m not sure which post office it’s at. I’ll try finding a way to get in contact with USPS about it.

If you go down to the P.O. and talk real nice to the person in charge at the time, explaining the situation, they can and might go in back, pull up the info on their Intranet and maybe get an answer for you. It isn't really something that is easily handled on the phone - but it has been know to happen.

I'm confused. I thought in your original post, you said the package had been delivered. Do you mean you think the "delivered" status means to that same post office box number, but in San Francisco? You don't think it's been delivered to a house? So you think it could still be inside a post office building somewhere in the city of San Francisco?

Sorry I just meant I wouldn’t know the last post office it was at. Right now tracking just says “delivered”

Go to USPS.com and call their 800 number. I have found them very helpful in many different situations.
