Item Location in listings problem

I am trying to create new listing, relist unsold item or sell similar but now face the problem that Item Location changes to the United States and my country disappears from that list of countries and I am unable to select and set it. I checked my addresses, business and shipping policies. Everything is correct. Why I can see it permanently switching to the United States? Can anybody help with that? Thank you

I'm glad you're aware of this issue and concerned about it!  Too many sellers do just misrepresent their location either out of ignorance or malice.  Hopefully eBay will pay attention and fix it soon! I just added a comment to your post on the eBay Technical Issues board, but perhaps the "blues" should be tagged too (eBay employees that post on these boards that can liaison with the appropriate department within eBay, sometimes they can get fixes made faster than other methods).

Can one of you check on why Serbia (and Yugoslavia) aren't showing in the list of countries for the Item Location setting on listings?

Hey @brightlightbookseller and @worldcollectibles thanks for letting us know!  We have reported this issue to the proper teams to see if this is indeed a glitch or an intentional change.

Thank you for all your help. Hopefully it will get resolved soon. As far as I can see from messages here, there is the same problem with Item location for Japanese sellers too.

As for Serbia, I was trying to relist my items today and it still switches to the United States. I tried to select and set Montenegro, neighbor country but the result is absolutely the same. But there should be no Yugoslavia in the list. This country no longer exists.

Re: Item Location in listings problem

I have to say, I don't understand the Japan thing, because it does appear in the list of item locations.  Perhaps some Japanese sellers were selling things located in another country that wasn't appearing, or maybe there's a different issue I don't know about, but I do see Japan in the Item Location list of countries.

I am not up on my world geographical politics, but I bet you would be okay for now to list as the item in Yugoslavia, and then when/if they fix the issue change it to the correct location for Serbia. eBay does some things right and some things not.  They recently changed the list for countries for the manufacturing location (semi-recently, that is) to change Turkey to it's native spelling of Türkiye, but they didn't change it for the Item Location dropdown.  It's a mess sometimes.

Hi,

Quote from post:

"When I try to list an item and press List it, sometimes an error screen about the location pops up. The location country automatically changes to USA, so I have to manually change it to Japan and list it. I guess this is also a bug."

@akibashipping

You may want to post your issue on this forum:

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Report-eBay-Technical-Issues/bd-p/technicalissues-db

This way the right people will see the problem & hopefully take note to fix it.

Happy Selling
