When buyers receive items not as described or defective, and need to return the item, very often they incurred additional cost to package the item before returning it. That's because, to open the package, one must destroy the onetime use packaging. eBay needs to take that into consideration and factor that in the refund process.
Buyers should never lose money just because they shopped on eBay. Sellers get the ability to deduct from their taxes for return merchandise whereas buyers do not.
eBay must create the ability for buyers to upload receipt for packages when they need to return items either not as described or item is defective so sellers can reimburse buyers.

Click on the op's feedback left for others. You will see they are a nut-job. It would be a good idea to pre-emptively block this buyer to save yourself some grief.

If I ever find the need to return something to Wally or Harbor Freight I'm going to ask them to give me a little extra cash for gas I used returning it and see how that goes over.😏
It would be on you if you go to the store and purchase an item not as described...you had the physical item in your hands to inspect, correct?
Not correct under all circumstances.
I'm not in the habit of tearing opening sealed packages and attempting to use an item in stores before I purchase. YMMV

The OP doesn't appear to understand that Drop Shipping within the rules of Ebay are allowed. Clearly they don't like any seller that drop ships, but that doesn't mean the seller did anything wrong, it only means the OP didn't review the item they were purchasing close enough and for that they made the seller's pay the price with giving them negative FB.

Right, I think the eBay-branded padded envelopes in particular have that capability, as long as your first tear is along the outer seal strip rather than the inner one, leaving you one fresh peel-off sealing strip available on the flap. (Not sure if Amazon uses that same design, although they seem to change their packaging designs every week anyway.)

Amazon has printed sheets of bubble. They make their own envelopes by folding it in half then heat sealing along 3 edges. It's why they're often wonky-shaped and always different sizes. But even those can be reused. In fact, I reused one a couple days ago to ship a personal item. Just fold over the top and hit it with packing tape. You could also cut open the sides to create a flat sheet and use like you would regular bubble wrap, if needed.

Way ahead of you.

Correct. I use those and they have two self-adhesive strips to allow them to be reused for a return if needed.

Oh wow, I didn't realize it was that poster. I agree, this is just trolling, or else some edgy teen who doesn't really even understand what they're asking.
Possibly to their own detriment. They just joined my BBL.

If the item was delivered in a box, it should be simple to reuse that box, packing material, and attach the return label.
If your item was delivered in a poly bag (soft goods), you should be able to adjust a return with your longtime eBay experience here. If you ripped it open to where you cannot reuse, then you adjust as needed for a safe return to seller.
If others bought from you, are you willing to pay them extra to repack, personal tape, ink and paper to print the return label, and their time to travel to USPS to ship the return?
I don't see any active listing from you, but I see may negative & neural feedback that you have left for sellers. Either you're buying from the wrong sellers, or your standards are set too high.

How about all the buyers who purchase something, change their mind and then throw away all the packaging so that they can just toss the items into a box with no protection for return shipping? About 75% of my returns come back to me with horrible packaging, bouncing around inside the box halfway across the country.
Should we charge the buyers for the cost of the damaged items that they couldn't be bothered to even do a basic packing job on?

Looking at the feedback you leave and holy cow. This person even threatens sellers with the FBI lol
When everyone else is always the problem, sometimes that means you are the problem. Thanks for posting, and thanks for taking up some space on my blocked buyers list. Yikes.

I can just imagine this OP at a hotel front desk when things weren't 100% perfect with their stay.
