Hey there, so I was told by a few people to share this with this, figured I might as well because I have nothing to lose at this point.
So a while ago I listed up a pair of Travis Scott 1s for a reasonable price, under StockX and goat as they were VNDS just tried on, never laced, etc. The shoes were originally from Goat, I had the authentication card and everything. The shoes sold and were set to be sent to eBay’s authentication center, which in itself its fine you would think. It’s ran by SneakerCon. I was wrong. I shipped the shoes and it took a few days for them to get them and I get the dreaded email “These did not pass our authentication”
So I’m like “Ok they probably made a mistake, I’ve heard they have before whatever at least I will get my shoes back. Got the package today, they sent me the wrong shoes. They were another pair of Travis Scott 1s in the same size but these were not only fake, but used. They were laced up, insole wear, writing on the box, ripped size label, no extra laces, my goat card and etc were not there. These were a completely different pair of shoes. I called ebay almost immediately and explained what happened, they had me send in pics of the shoes I got to compare to my listing. I obviously complied and sent them. They took under 10 minutes to deny my appeal.
I proceeded to call back again, and explained what happened following the previous call. The case was back open and they asked for more pictures. They then asked for a picture of their tag that they stick on the shoe box to keep track of inventory, they said it should be on the front of the box by the size label, well, it wasn’t. They then asked me to check the rest of the shoe box. Turns out, it was stuck to the bottom of the box. So I took a picture and sent it to them. They then proceeded to deny my appeal again saying “the shoes were fake and the sticker placement was wrong”.
This absolutely baffled me. I told them for one thing, the shoes be authentic or not does not even apply to my issue I literally got someone else’s shoes returned to me. And two, you are the ones who placed the sticker. How in the hell am I at fault for that. They further replied saying that the decision is final and they will no longer reply to anything about this order/shoe/ or case again.
I have sold on eBay a lot over the years and have had issues but they usually make them right. Though this is absolutely unacceptable. So not only did my authentic shoes “fail” their check, they sent me a fake pair back. So now I’m at well over a 1k loss because of their errors.

Seriously, every time I come here I think, maan, eBay is just getting worse and that the 'post' I just read had taken the cake.
Then I read this post and realise that I was wrong, the bar of stupidity has raised again and for now this is the top one that beats all!!!!
How anyone continues with stuff like this actually being condoned and supported by eBay is mind blowing
unbelievable.
You now the saddest part ? I bet in a day or 2 I will read something that even tops this !

Enable two-factor authentication, a crucial security measure that The problem is passwords, which are hopelessly fragile ways to secure to type, and it will do nothing to protect you if the service where you use that Note that for some password management software, 2FA support is a paid option.

I think that poster read "Authentication" and did not read the rest of the OP.
They replied info for log-in authentication.. The reply was accurate if the issue were 2-step authentication for logging into an online account. /shrugs.. 😛

...my dearest friend, I'm still as dumb as a rock when reading that reply...
...thank so much for your interpreting...

I'm so sorry to hear this. I too have been scammed by the authentication center. They did not even send my shoes back at all! And eBay keeps closing my cases without responding to me. $600 pair of shoes stolen and marked counterfeit, and they weren't even counterfeit. I'm so sorry to hear this happened to you too. I was going to file a police report but I was told they don't even have cameras in there, or take pictures of the items there, which baffles me also.. if you figure out a way to appeal this, please post it on here!

I feel you . I sent in some adidas flux with tags that we got from the Nashville outlet and the authenticator ripped the brand new tags off our shoes deemed them unauthentic and sent them back.. not even sure it's our shoes they sent back.. they are running a scam.. I'm filing a police report for theft and destruction of personal property against ebay tomorrow

jeez man

that's horrible man.. you'd think Ebay would take responsibility for such a blatant mistake, but instead they leave you hanging. I'll definitely share this around so people will know the risks of working with Ebays incompetent team. This seriously gave me second hand pain and I do know some others with similar situations. If Ebays going to take their users for granted they'll find very quickly that we'll find a new service to work with. I hope that one day you can get this figured out.

That is awful.

I sold a used Louis Vuitton bag. It said there is more stains in interior and more stains in exterior, so didn't pass. For a used bag, I have shown most or the worst parts in 12 pictures. What do they mean " more" ? I don't agree there are more. And when they sent the money to my bank for a sold item, they changed 15% + already, but when they decided return to me. They want to charge 15%+ again. Why they charged that much for a return item, and double charges? Please who can explain to me how they charge for an item which didn't pass authentication?

I sold a pair of Jordan 36’s in December, went through authentication (I had to pay to send them to Nevada even though I later found out the buyer lived in Missouri, I shipped from NJ. *Buyer begged for expedited shipping so I bit the bullet and shipped FedEx, I ended up get charged for a 9 pound package that shipment cost me well over $30) .
Buyer opens return after receiving sneakers from the authentication service for fit. Sneakers are shipped to authenticating service and sit there. Buyer asks eBay to step in. eBay awards buyer the case and charges my account for $286 for the cost of the original transaction. I have yet to receive the sneakers back. That was three weeks ago. No return tracking, no further updates from the authentication.

Sold a pair of shoes and sent them to the "Authenticator" . They picked up the shoes at 1:40 pm and by 2:20 had already returned to the facility, opened the box, got they gloves on and checked each point of my hand made in Italy shoes. Hmmmm- said my shoes did not "seem" to be authentic. They even marked off the box and tags as authentic when they did not come with a box or tags. It was just the used shoes. Talked to 3 different people at eBay with no help at all.

I’m already filing civil court case against eBay and sneakerCon
