Is this something new?

I was in my store and I was going to revise one of my items so I clicked on it.

Instead of taking me to the listing itself, it brought up a window to let me purchase the item.

I've never seen this before. Is this something new?

Of course I didn't go through with the purchase, but as I recall, you used to not be able to buy from yourself.

Is this something new?

seems that I have seen that before, but I doubt that you would be able to continue to make the purchase.

I just thought of something.

I tried it out on someone else's store.

Ebay is allowing  buyers to add something to the shopping cart and check out simply by clicking on the picture of the item in your store, without even looking at the listing itself.

That just doesn't seem right?

Why would a Buyer need to or want to know what they are buying before they buy it?

Yes I just noticed this myself. This is such a stupid idea. The buyer has to click an additional button to go to the listing description. Here's a random example of a store I was in.

No Item description, you have to cick on the "view all details" to see itNo Item description, you have to cick on the "view all details" to see itAnd here's the listing description with a very important size chart. And here's the listing description with a very important size chart.

Buyers are DEFINITELY going to not see the size chart and other important details. Is ebay just trying to raise their return numbers? Maybe USPS is paying ebay to do this so they'll get more revenue for return shipping, lol.

I've seen these kinds of quick view screens on other sites where I shop. It's definitely handy if you're buying a product you're familiar with and know what you want. As a seller here, I of course prefer that buyers be shown a description before they click the buy button. 🙄

Sounds like Pelozi logic....you have to buy it before you know what you bought....LOL.

Just reported it, it is a useless additional as sellers cannot buy their owns things and just adds more work for the seller.  What you should be afraid of is that buyers get the same thing and they are buying without seeing nor reading the entire description.   It might be named " quick view"  by eBay.

If you look at my previous reply, buyers ARE seeing the same thing. I went to numerous random stores of other sellers and clicked away to see the exact same dumb quick view pop up. So as you said, be afraid.

I haven't seen it when trying to revise a listing, yet.

But I've been seeing that pop up screen for a couple months now.

Have a great day.

I believe it only shows up when going into a listing directly thru someone's ebay store.

I talked to eBay about it. The rep said she didn’t know anything about it nor did she see anything about it in her CS knowledge base announcements thingy.

She said it was weird how eBay would roll out something like that without any notice to at least the CS reps. I told her, “yea, it’s not that weird.”

You could have at least shown some respect and spelled her name right.

@inhawaii  eBay has been testing this since I believe sometime in January. I first noticed it January 20.

https://community.ebay.com/t5/Selling/Quick-View-In-Stores-Allows-Add-To-Cart-Without-Viewing-Listin...

Originally it seemed like they were testing two versions - one actually had a Quick View button that would show when you hovered over the image. If you clicked specifically on that button, you'd get the quick view pop up screen, but if you clicked anywhere else on the image or title, you'd go to the regular listing page.

ebaystorequickview4.jpgebaystorequickview5.jpg

The second version they were testing did not have a button - it just defaulted to the quick view pop up if you clicked anywhere on the image or the title, with the only way to get to the full listing page being either clicking on the title once you're in the quick view pop up or clicking the "view all details" button.

Of the two, I personally would have preferred the first option - it creates a more obvious and explicit choice for the buyer rather than having the pop up forced as the default.

But it appears eBay has decided to do with version two at this point. I haven't seen any with the explicit Quick View button in about a month now.

And yes, for now at least I believe it is only when viewing items through Stores pages though it's possible it could expand to search results and other places across the site at some point in the future.

Do you think Bay should make it more work to buy something?

Haven't buyers always had a "Buy it now" button from their watch list?
