So I listed some shoes at $600 and got a offer for $680 which was immediately suspicious because why would someone overpay when there's no need. There username is also (i-have-few-questions-text-me-on-xxx-xxx-xxxx-thanksozz) phone number censored incase it is a real seller.
They also have a profile description which is a bit off:
Text me additional pictures of the item on📱(xxx-xxx-xxxx) for comparison to what I saw on eBay due to some sellers making listings that are not in their possession. Write your eBay username on paper, and how much I offered you beside the item. I hope to hear from you soon and shipping is within the USA.
I also got an offer on another item from a seller with the exact same name but with a different phone number aswell as a different shipping address.

Scam, scam scam.
Do NOT take any communications off of the eBay messages. Buyers only pay thru eBay. No other options.
Perhaps discontinue the offers and go with Buy It Now, Immeadiate Payment Required
And then come back here with questions if you think there is another scam attempt.

Just assume it's someone trying to get your item for free. Delete and block.

Yes that is a common SCAM. New sellers should not try to sell high value items. No legit buyer will pay that much from a new unproven seller. I suggest to start by selling low price say around 25.00 items and build a feedback track record first.
You will only attract scammers at this point listing high value items.

They'll probably offer to generously "pay" you extra to add some gift cards as well, as it's for someone's "birthday".

Are those shoes supposed to be 'red'? They look black with a small orange stripe.

You should also report this account for trying to take a transaction off eBay.

Yes, you can basically stop right there, because that's one common lead-in to a scam. All the rest of your story simply added more red flags: the message-as-photo, the request for a text, the ridiculous backstory expecting you to jump through various buyer-imposed hoops... Report the scam buying account, add the ID to your Blocked Buyer List and move on.

According to the product details, yes. But I do agree that they don't really look red at all.

Looks very odd, and you are probably opening yourself up to an item not as described return case. Title says red..and shoes are black.

Those shoes are black with High Risk Red accent.

The 'accent' looks orange. In an orange box..unless op's colors are off.
