Is this a Scam?

I am very new to eBay, and I had some things lying around that I didn’t need. I decided to sell them, and a new acc offered to buy my item for about $150, when it typically doesn’t go for that much. It is a SNES Classic edition, and the buyer asked for my email twice with the same phrase twice within a couple minutes of each message. Please help me!

Re: Is this a Scam?

Don't reply.  There is no need for anyone to have your email address.  You have to stay within the confines of eBay's message system to stay safe.  He wants your address to send you a fake payment notice.

Re: Is this a Scam?

Yes, it is a scam. Follow what @toysaver says. Also, educate yourself here on the many increasing scams against new sellers like you, who have a target on your back. Read down a few hundred posts to begin your education, and read what eBay says about scams.

Cheers, Duffy

Re: Is this a Scam?

fake payment notice scam is what these folks are trying to do.

Get your email and paypal and send you a fake notice of payment : maybe even asking you to include gift cards (also a scam); so they can get free stuff from you.

Re: Is this a Scam?

The buyer is asking you to do something you're not supposed to do.

Simply...

Don't do it.

Ignore the buyer.

Block the buyer.

Re: Is this a Scam?

All of these things are sure signs of a scam:

1. Buyer asks for your email address, Paypal address
2. Buyer sends you a phone number to text/call him/her
3. Buyer asks you to buy gift cards to go with the order
4. Buyer asks you to send the item to a different address after paying
5. Buyer wants you to send the item overnight/express and will pay you a lot extra to do this
6. Buyers says that they cannot pay through the eBay website and sends you a link to click on so that the payment will go through
7. Buyer offers more for your item than the price you have it listed for

Decline any offer and block the buyer:  https://www.ebay.com/bmgt/BuyerBlock

The easier you are to offend the easier you are to control.

Re: Is this a Scam?

thank you to everyone that has replied to this. I know see that it is a scam which sucks, but I was looking on Amazon and it goes for abt $180 with box, so $150 for mine dosent seem too off. Im most likely not going to go through with the sale, which sucks as I want this thing gone. Thank you!

Then, most likely you will receive a fake PP invoice that you have been paid.
