Sad to see that Sellers aren't on an even playing field here.

New (and infrequent) seller limits are there to protect both buyers and sellers. It has nothing to do with an uneven playing field. As soon as this seller has more satisfactory transactions and builds a more current history, the limits will be lifted.

My comment was directed towards the general Seller base here.  The numerous posts on this thread and others (and my experience) supports that there isn't currently an even playing field.  The root cause of this is attributable to a number of factors;  promoted listings, search algorithm and throttling/visibility of listings.

All sellers can't be on a level playing field with each other.  To do that would be very risky for the site, buyers and sellers.

Very few will like having selling limits, yet they exist for a reason.  Sellers can call Ebay every 30 days and ask for an increase in their selling limits and/or listing limits IF their account is in good standing.  Ebay will usually allow an increase.  A seller should do that every 30 days until they have a limit that is comfortable for them.

But new sellers or sellers that have been off the site for a good chunk of time should never be allowed to list whatever they want, how much they want and as many as they want.  It needs to be controlled until that seller has some experience under their belt.  That is for the best interest of all.

Often those being put under those conditions / restrictions don't like it and complain about it.  But that does not mean Ebay is wrong in doing so.  It just means that seller doesn't agree with Ebay.  Big difference.

I wasn't referring to limits on number of items you can list, I was referring to number of sales you can get.  If your reread my posts and others here I think you'll see that.  It's not a level playing field.

I'm pretty sure the OP wasn't asking about selling or listing limits as shown on our dashboards (or wherever).

They're talking about being "throttled back" to a certain # of sales.

Yes, that's also what I read and was commenting on.

Note - SALES - not amount you can list

Maybe the C in GTC was recently changed to mean Capped? open_mouth

@zamo-zuan   what site, or software do you use that allows you to see that the top rated sellers in several categories are all down..??

i.e.  does the software specify who the top rated sellers are in a certain category and then show their avg sales now versus.. before 90 days??

I would like to go see how the top rated sellers in the categories I list in have been doing.

Its really weird.. when ebay went to gtc.  My sales were pretty good for a month or so.. but this month is the worst i've had in years.. ugggggggg

No, there is no cap on the amount of sales per day. I've been buying for over 20 yeas and have never went to purchase an item and received a pop up saying the seller can not sell anymore items today. What does happen is you may be lowered in best match search, but even then, the majority of buyers switch to a different search and skip best match.

That would not be necessary, if your items falls off search after "the limit" has been reached, meaning you, the buyer would not see anything to consider to make a purchase.  Right?

I will guarantee your items are visible. Nothing hidden. List an item you say is hidden and I can post a link showing you it is there.

I will guarantee your items are visible, that's a bold statement to make.

List an item, you say is hidden, Ugh?

How can you back up that "guarantee"?  Have you read the UA [user agreement] for using this site?

All I would need is the OP's selling I.D. and the item she says is hidden. The reason for the guarantee is I have searched items for various board members for years and have NEVER not found the item that was supposedly hidden. Maybe this would be the first of 100's but I seriously doubt it. Has anyone who agrees someone can only sell so many item a day EVER ONCE as a buyer, not been able to purchase because the seller has been restricted for selling too many items a day ?

You can find anything listed if you have either the item # or the EXACT title to search with. Doesn't mean it's showing in search otherwise.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

And once again you're not "getting it". No one said a listing wasn't ON the site. It's impossible for you to say it is coming up in relevant searches.

Reality is the leading cause of stress.

Cool, the point is the buyer would never know if the seller has reached a selling limit that day because the buyer wouldn't see the seller's listings.

You can say over and over, as you do, that you can find any listing at any time and that's great.  I will say, over and over, that I know I don't see all listings because my search results change, even if I have not modified, deleted or added one word to my search string.

So because you haven't experienced it, it couldn't be true???

Ebay by their own admission does this.  For YEARS AND YEARS Ebay denied this.  Then in 2013 the revised the UA and required ALL sellers to re-up their acceptance of the UA to continue selling.

Many factors could be in play as to why this is something you haven't experienced.  Your geographic location could be one of them.  For years many sellers have believed in what we call Rolling Blackouts.  Some listings get hidden at certain times in certain geographic locations.  So for you to accurately test this, you'd have to be in the right zip code at the right time.

Over the years there are many sellers that can attest to suddenly starting to get a bunch of sales from one state.  One that jumps out at me from my own experience is Puerto Rico.  I do get sales there off and on throughout the year.  But a while back I suddenly had a half dozen sales to PR within a matter of a couple hours.  Over the years I've had similar things happen with other states every now and again.

Anyway, I respect that you believe what you have stated.  It is just you have no way of knowing that the Ebay's UA is incorrect and you are right.
