Is there a Cap on the Number of Sales you can get in a Day? I believe it is. Sorry, you have reached your quote for the day, Next!..........................., but there is 10 more hours left in the day.

I believe there is and this past month my daily sales max is 0 Use to sell something everyday before the middle of March then the bottom fell out. Been on ebay for years and never seen it like this!!!

I believe there is ( # of items, $ amount and categories) and it's getting worse. I had Anchor store, but I couldn't seem to average more than 40 items a month. Dropped down a store level in June 2017, still only 40 items a month. Then in Aug 2018, average selling of 20 items a month without the normal uptick for the holiday season. Sales slowly dropping each month, with the pattern being selling a few items at the end of the month when my invoice generates and again around the 15th when my invoice is due. I make enough to pay the bill, no extras. And please don't let there be any returns!
I tweaked prices, put in UPC codes, checked mobile capabilities, headings changed, ran sales, made offers, ending listings and created new listings. I sell vintage clothing, jewelry, toys, variety of items. Used to sell from variety of categories, now it seems if I sell a keychain, then my next few sales will be keychains. Sell a magnet, next few sales are magnets. Wouldn't mind a cap of 20 items if I was selling my higher priced items, but I'm not even sure my items are being seen. I've had a few people tell me they couldn't find my store ( a whole other issue - my store disappeared twice). I'm thinking about dropping down another level, but I just missed my deadline, so I may be stuck for another year.
So far this year: Jan 14 items $182.19, Feb 14 items $172.87, March 10 items $114.12, April 10 items $168.31, May 9 items $153.68. For June, I've sold 11 items so far. Now about half the sales is postage, so this leaves just enough to pay my average bill of $83. When I was working, I didn't really pay attention to the limits, but now that this is my only source of income, it's troubling. I've been ending items and posting on other platforms and even thinking of stopping altogether.
For comparison 2018: Jan 1 item $16.75 (moved, on vacation mode until Feb), Feb 17 items $202.72, Mar 60 items $543.59, April 42 items $ 609.22, May 44 items $351.75, June 47 items $448.02, July 42 items $392.37, Aug 28 items $387.83, Sept 29 items $322.74, Oct 29 items $279.12, Nov 21 items $335.48, Dec 33 items $421.31.
For comparison 2017: Jan 43 items 418.15, Feb 45 items $398.17, Mar 54 items $355.31, April 46 items $282.31, May 40 items $449.46, June 65 items $917.90, July 64 items $798.45, Aug 33 items $496.95, Sept 43 items $557.65, Oct 40 items $645.04, Nov 56 items $660.67, Dec 97 items $1103.26. Average Ebay bill $120-$180, although first 3 months of year it was $339 month.
Sorry my response is so long

It looks to be a monthly cap. I sell roughly the same number of items per month, only a couple difference here and there. Doesn't matter how many listings I put up.

New (and infrequent) seller limits are there to protect both buyers and sellers. It has nothing to do with an uneven playing field. As soon as this seller has more satisfactory transactions and builds a more current history, the limits will be lifted.
My comment was directed towards the general Seller base here. The numerous posts on this thread and others (and my experience) supports that there isn't currently an even playing field. The root cause of this is attributable to a number of factors; promoted listings, search algorithm and throttling/visibility of listings.

But at one point in this Forum's life, he was a Wannabee Seller if you have read his previous posts. But also was a prolific buyer in the past. JMO.

@getitright1234 are you buying? That sounds like it might be referring to your purchase limits

Ebay is a publicly traded company and as such has a duty to maximize the revenue their site produces. What they have found out is by spreading the wealth (sales) around evenly they get more Sellers to buy a store, or invest money in Promoted Listings to try and boost their monthly allotment of sales. It has been this way for quite awhile now and Ebay will never admit it, but when I look at my sales for the last year every month is almost identical in revenue unless i happened to sell a very expensive card that month. But sales do pretty much end for the month when that happens.
Whether we like it or think it is fair, this is how Ebay operates and each seller has to make their own decisions about whether to put all their eggs in Ebays basket or diversify to other sites. I think Ebays results recently have shown that more and more sellers are either leaving or diversifying where they sell. Last quarter Ebay showed its first reduction in GMV in a long time, if ever and admitted they have even cut marketing expenses down. They have no idea how to grow this company anymore other than to find new ways to get more money out of their existing Sellers even when sales are declining, which the CEO admitted they are doing when he spoke about the 1st Quarter results with Wall Street Analysts.

All sellers can't be on a level playing field with each other. To do that would be very risky for the site, buyers and sellers.
Very few will like having selling limits, yet they exist for a reason. Sellers can call Ebay every 30 days and ask for an increase in their selling limits and/or listing limits IF their account is in good standing. Ebay will usually allow an increase. A seller should do that every 30 days until they have a limit that is comfortable for them.
But new sellers or sellers that have been off the site for a good chunk of time should never be allowed to list whatever they want, how much they want and as many as they want. It needs to be controlled until that seller has some experience under their belt. That is for the best interest of all.
Often those being put under those conditions / restrictions don't like it and complain about it. But that does not mean Ebay is wrong in doing so. It just means that seller doesn't agree with Ebay. Big difference.

I'm pretty sure the OP wasn't asking about selling or listing limits as shown on our dashboards (or wherever).
They're talking about being "throttled back" to a certain # of sales.
I have no idea, but the account they are posting with would absolutely have selling limitations on it that would have nothing to do with throttling and everything to do with being an occasional seller.

Hey, eBay....................help me exceed my goal of 10 sales per day. Lets make some money!!!!!!!
With 3 months of GTC, I'd be glad to get 1 sale per day again!
I must have really annoyed a CSR to be throttled back this far. Then add on messed up searches. Buyers can't find what they want and when they do, they can't make the purchase because the cart isn't working! How insane is that?
People talk about other e-commerce sites, but what ones beside The River have any traffic? I'm on the one that a search brings up a western TV show from olden days.
