Is it safe to ship a $1,900 handbag via the Global Shipping Program to a zero feedback buyer located in Thailand? I haven't shipped thru the GSP in many years and I can't find the information on seller protections when shipping thru GSP. Thank you in advance.

That's not the address the buyer entered at checkout. Seller is the one that enabled GSP, buyer entered an international address when they paid. To be eligible for authenticity screening, the buyer would have had to enter the US address (like a freight forwarder).
Jill, if you're not comfortable shipping high value items overseas then you should either disable GSP on those listings or put in some country restrictions. It won't prevent freight forwarder orders, but will eliminate buyers not willing to use their own forwarder.

I think you would actually be sending it to the authentication center in the US first. Then Ebay sends it on from there. Whether they take responsibility for a buyer claiming nondelivery or empty box or fake damage after they have repacked it and shipped it on - I have no idea. (I think they claim that they do cover losses after they ship it but I fear getting reimbursed would be like pulling teeth.)
I would think you could find a buyer for a $1900 handbag someplace in this country with a bit less risk - you could offer Local Pickup at a secure location for cash - but if you are comfortable with the possible risk of losing it completely to a buyer halfway around the world then carry on. Good luck.

If it were me...no I wouldn't do it. But that's just me. If you are uncomfortable with shipping it overseas, you can always cancel the sale citing problem with buyers address. Again, that's just me.
Good luck what ever you decide.

zero feedback is the red flag!

No GSP over $100. That's my rule.

Does the Authentication center even send items overseas? I thought it was limited to domestic sales only?

I cannot think of any circumstance where I would sell a $1900 item on any Internet platform, unless it were a local pick-up with a green back payment. For any item that requires shipping, I only list what I am prepared to lose and without the slightest effect upon my attitude or my life.

Thank you @itsjustasprain When it's shipped through the GPS it doesn't go through authentication. That's why I was concerned. I went ahead and cancelled.

Agree!

Thank you. I agree. Not comfortable with it and cancelled.

It's safe when shipped through Ebay's authenticity guarantee program. But, when it goes thru GPS it doesn't go through authenticity guarantee. I cancelled.

@toomuchstuffagain35 Yes, the authenticity guarantee program is limited to items in the US only.

I think you're incorrect. I don't think it's possible.
The listing shows that it's part of the Authenticity Guaranteed program and there's no opting out or circumventing it.
My understanding is that once it's part of that program, authenticated and forwarded to the address provided by the buyer, you are fully protected.
luxury_handbags@ebay - Would you please confirm?

Can you confirm that using "problem with buyer's address" to cancel a transaction under the circumstances described by the OP is in compliance with eBay's seller cancellation policy? Thanks!

NO. no. no.
