Is it okay to put in my listings

I do take reasonable offers. Just drop me a line.? I don’t want to set it to best offer because to many people have not paid with that feature. If someone ask me to reduce many times I will but I go into my listing and change it to the agreed price but under buy it now.  I’m just not sure if something like that is allowed with all the rules Ebay has.

Sure you can do that.  I do it all the time because I don' take "best offers".  The people who are really interested in an item will contact me through ebay message.

I think you may run the risk of an eaby bot thinking you're taking a transaction off site?

Re: Is it okay to put in my listings

drop me a line is a reference to a phone call and not something to put in the listing

unless you are one of the few who is allowed to use phone numbers in the ASAQ section

messages are OK but not a phone line

There is ALWAYS the possibility that a buyer will not pay.  It has no connection with whether or not you list with "Best Offer".

Re: Is it okay to put in my listings

You can leave the Best Offer option in your fixed price listing, but instead of accepting an offer, try lowering your price to the offer amount. That preserves your immediate payment requirement. As long as you do not accept the offer, the buyer must actually complete the payment to proceed, and the item stays listed.

Re: Is it okay to put in my listings

If you're going to make a special "Buy it now" offer for one customer, you can set the price very high and have them make an offer at the agreed upon price. This will almost always prevent someone else from jumping on it when it appears.

I say "almost" because I once made an offer to a seller for $50.00, he listed it for $150.00 Buy it Now, and before I could send in my offer someone jumped on it at the higher price.

My reaction? "Good for you!"

Sold Items search showed it ranging from $50-$70.00.

Re: Is it okay to put in my listings

I would not message him offers.  Will you take this please  no I won't how about this then fine send me an invoice etc. WHY do all that typing of words in a message or ask a question form when it's much easier to set your offers to reject offers less than x?  The buyer needs only to type the offer amount and send. I would find it off putting if I have to negotiate a price through a personal message. That's just me though.
