  • Price Range:
The Authenticity Guarantee service is available for watches priced between $500 and $1,999.99 and for watches $2,000.00 or more.

The authenticity guarantee will come up on your listing. When it sells, Ebay will provide the label to the authenticity service, and if it passes, will then ship the watch to your buyer. if it does not pass the authenticity, it will be returned to you.

Do  you have a Jewry shop  or a watch shop  with expert's  to go too  ,And them  authenticate it .   Ebay's  authenticator  is  a option .

It is not an option if the watch falls within the price range to be authenticated.

If and when you list it, be sure to fully describe the watch. Often things going to the authenticators fail not because they are not real, it is because the description does not match the item. Good clear photos a long with pointing out any flaws. Having good photos is not good enough, there needs to be a description to go along with them.

Was that an AI-generated summary? It appears to be missing some key words, such as the difference between how it's "available" between $500 and $1,999.99, and how it's available for watches of $2,000.00 or more. Right now both clauses above are saying the same thing.

I assumed that in the first price range it was optional and in the second range, for $2K and above, it was required, which turned out to be correct, but incomplete. Part of its optional status is that if the buyer wants to add authentication to your less-than-$2K listing, there is a fee of $80 for that. Authentication is no charge for $2K and up.

The Authentication Services are provided at no cost to sellers and buyers for Authenticity Guarantee Eligible Items that are bought or sold on eBay.com at a price of $2,000 or more. The Authentication Services may be purchased for a fee of $80.00 to buyers as an add-on for eligible items bought on eBay.com and priced between $500 and $1,999.99.

Yes, the buyer can purchase the authentication for $500 to $1999.99 for $80 at check out. The seller cannot purchase the authentication service tho,it is not optional as the previous poster said, that is what I was replying to.As posted, that authentication service is not an option for the seller,it will be automatic,if the watch is in the price range to be authenticated.

Okay, right, I was thinking that it was the seller who got billed the $80 for an optional authentication on purchases of $500 to $1999.99, but in fact it's the buyer.

Yeah it can be confusing for sellers too who think they can just apply for the optional authentication.

Re: Is it necessary to send the authenticator a watch worth $1k?

I have few items left for eBay and this watch was one of them. I think I will give up selling this watch on eBay. Everything is very confusing, I absolutely do not need another additional intermediary. I withdrew all my funds from eBay and invested them in other sites, bought another group of goods. In the near future, I will probably finish selling on eBay. No, I have never been deceived by scammers or something else, but my profit has decreased, and the risk of being deceived has increased.

Probably for the best, selling an expensive piece of jewelry attracts scammers, and is a risk.
