Is eBay a Tyrant

I think so.

What is an example of tyrant?
a ruler who is unconstrained by law.

Is eBay a Tyrant

Hi @ten_o_nine

People are unable to quit a tyrant. We are free to leave eBay at any time.

That's what you think. You are probably missing the point.

No matter how much you give to a tyrant, they come back for more, it's not about quitting.

There’s no point to an exaggeration.  🙂

I’m sure the Iranian people wouldn’t think you’re being melodramatic at all.

A business is not a ruler. They are not the same. By definition, a ruler is a leader of a country and imposes his or her will upon the people that have no other choice but to follow them. eBay is a platform or forum that makes itself available to those that choose to use it, either buying or selling. eBay does not and cannot force anyone to use its service. On the same hand, people have free will. Free will allows them to make choices in their life. I understand you may be venting, which we all do, but eBay is neither a tyrant nor a ruler. If you don't like doing business on or with eBay simply walk away. You could always build a platform in competition with the services eBay provides. Don't let anything that happens on eBay be allowed to ruin one minute of your day. As I always say, "In a hundred years it ain't gonna matter." Have a great day.

So, eBay tempts me with TEN THOUSAND FREE LISTINGS. I am a one man operation and have about 2200 listings. The last year eBay has been tyrannical for sure. It is bad enough "quitting" and walking away from the hard work creating 2200 listings. What if I had 10,000? I honestly think that is part of the tyrannical evil plan. Make it so sellers CAN'T quit.

tyrant in the modern English usage of the word is an absolute ruler who is unrestrained by law. eBay does have to follow the laws of eCommerce, taxing issues, licensing, etc. Our Government would be a great example of the definition of a tyrant - in my sole opinion.

To all, I am not arguing, just asking a question, don't be dramatic.

You have 2155 listings. I am missing your point. Is eBay cutting back the number of free listings to you? I have never had that many listings at once so I commend you as a one-man operation. That's a lot of work.

Can you give ONE example where you eBay isn’t subject to the laws of the countries it’s operating in?

The only question I saw you asked, was what is a tyrant? I gave the dictionary definition of it above. Maybe you have been watching too many Youtube videos on 1st amendment audits. They use that term a lot when exposing corrupt or abusive cops by not following the law, which I would agree with. Nothing against LEOs in general as I support most of them.

Selling, itself, is entrapping. You think you’re freer than a 9-to-5-er until you want to quit.  😐

It would be the same thing on any other venue eventually.  Things are tough now.
